    Maryland School for the Deaf (MSD) is a diverse, bilingual community who in partnership with families, provides an equitable and exemplary education in a nurturing, engaging, and challenging environment to ensure our students achieve personal excellence and become lifelong learners.

    As such, we are looking for dedicated individuals who can join us in the education of the children at MSD.

    LOCATION OF POSITION MSD, Columbia Campus, 8169 Old Montgomery Road, Ellicott City, MD 21043 Main Purpose of Job Cooperation of responsibilities with Assistant Athletic Director for the Middle School athletic programs at the Columbia Campus.

    Responsibilities include preparing, maintaining, and inventorying athletic equipment and apparel.

    Serves as a secondary building manager during athletic practices and games and is responsible for ensuring that all facilities and grounds are prepared for each game, as well as ensuring that they are cleaned up after each event.

    Provides support as a scorekeeper and timer when needed, and assumes other responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Athletic Director of Columbia Campus.

    POSITION DUTIES Prepares, maintains,and inventorying the athletic equipment at the Columbia Campus;
    Adjusts and repairssports equipment;
    Launders and maintainsvarious types of athletic clothing;
    Maintains inventoryrecords and applies inventory control procedures;
    Participates inappropriate professional development training and workshops;
    Helps with thepreparation of summer sports camps;
    Provides equipmentmanagement and maintenance when sports are in sessions, including summer sportscamps;
    Makes periodic safetychecks of the athletic facilities, when asked;
    Provides support asneeded, including driving, while traveling to and from away games and practiceson Frederick Campus for some of the sports;
    Assesses emergency andcrisis situations, communicates with the Assistant Athletic Director forappropriate contacts and referrals, and provides interim emergency medical andother assistance until specialized assistance is available;
    Maintains strictconfidentiality of students, as well as school personnel information;
    Follows written andoral instructions and
    Performs other relatedduties assigned by the Assistant Athletic Director


    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education :
    High School diploma required.
    Experience in workingwith Sports Management or related fields preferred.
    Fluency in ASL, writtenEnglish, and knowledge of Deaf community required. DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Ability to obtaincrowd manager certification;
    Ability to learnemergency medical procedures;
    Ability to obtainCPR/First Aid certification and

    Skill in written Englishsufficient to permit fluent and accurate communication with students andparents/guardians who are not proficient in American Sign Language.

    LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS Employees in this classification may be assignedduties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned suchduties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid inthe State of Maryland. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS 1. Employees in thisclassification are required to be proficient in American Sign Language and inwritten English.
    2. Candidates willneed to provide three letters of recommendation.
    3. Hold or obtain a validdriver license.

    BENEFITS


    Contractual employees who work for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program, have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents.

    As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled.

    The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits.

    You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.

    Leave may be granted to a contractual employee who has worked 120 days in a 12 month period.

    This leave accrues at a rate of one hour for every 30 hours worked, not to exceed 40 hours per calendar year.
