    Scion Nonprofit Staffing , an award-winning full-service staffing firm, has been engaged to conduct an immediate search for a Director of Philanthropy for our client, a respected animal organization dedicated to building a better future for pets and people in the San Francisco metro area. This full-time on-site/hybrid opportunity is available immediately

    POSITION SUMMARY:
    The Director of Philanthropy will collaborate with the leadership and legacy programs by overseeing and enhancing a group of donors who have the capacity to contribute at least $10,000 each per year. The ideal candidate for this role would have exceptional interpersonal skills, enabling the ability to cultivate and advance relationships with a diverse community of donors, prospects, colleagues, volunteers, partners, and community members . This person would embrace and advocate for a positive, compassionate, and caring approach towards both people and animals, fostering a joyful and collaborative culture.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Create and execute individualized approaches to identify, steward, request contributions, and maintain relationships with over 125 major donors and potential supporters.
    • Continuously interact with donors and potential supporters through events, in-person meetings, online and phone communications, as well as email and postal correspondence.
    • Create personalized proposals to secure funding with the necessary supporting documentation for all different categories of donors.
    • Meet or surpass annual targets for donor engagements, accepted proposals, gift sizes, total revenue raised, and other relevant metrics.
    • Assess, organize, edit, and analyze data to create comprehensive reports on major gift and campaign donors and prospects; adapt strategies accordingly when necessary.
    • Work closely with the Planned Giving Manager to enhance the membership of the legacy giving society.
    • Assist in developing strategies in collaboration with the Advancement team.
    • Engage in events and enhance donor experiences, consistently advancing partnerships and promoting positive public relations.
    • Ensure the highest level of confidentiality for all internal information related to donors and prospects.
    QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required with at least five years of experience in non-profit fundraising. CFRE or other professional designation preferred.
    • Proven track record of successfully securing individual, corporate, and/or foundation gifts ranging from five to seven figures.
    • Exceptional interpersonal skills, enabling the ability to cultivate and advance relationships with a diverse community of donors, prospects, colleagues, volunteers, partners, and community members.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills in addition to a polished and professional demeanor required.
    • Competence in software and systems such as Raiser's Edge, WeathEngine, Crescendo, Engaging Networks, Asana, Microsoft Office Suite, etc.
    • Passionate about the human-animal bond, compassionate towards the well-being of people and animals, and comfortable with having animals in the workplace.
    • Travel within the San Francisco metro area may be required.
    • Must possess a valid California Driver's License with no more than two at-fault incidents in a three-year period and no major at-fault violations in the last ten years. Must be insured.
    COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
    In addition to a competitive salary of $130,000-$155,000 this opportunity offers a robust benefits package with fully paid medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 403(b)-retirement plan with employer contributions, and paid vacation, sick days, holidays, and more
