***To perform this job successfully, the Assistant Procurement Manager must support the VP, Procurement in all phases of procurement by performing (but not limited to) the following listed major responsibilities.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Leverages strategies in sourcing and vendor negotiations while leading and participating in cross functional groups to optimize ingredients and/or packaging suppliers' selections.
  • Drives effort to reduce total cost by identifying new technologies, alternate alternative materials or sources, etc. Develop cost analysis reports including savings achieved by category and suppliers.
  • Participates actively in New Project Developments with internal partners and with various facilities.
  • Negotiates NDAs (Nondisclosure agreements), development agreements, contracts, amendments, and renewals while aligning with company business strategies and budget.
  • Manages vendor/supplier relationships while monitoring performance and ensuring terms of the contracts are fulfilled. Tracks and resolves service and quality issues.
  • Compiles Purchase Orders and maintains good record trial of transactions.
  • Travel: this position requires 25% travel including trade shows, conferences and supplier visits to support internal audits.

EDUCATION, SKILLS and EXPERIENCES

  • This position requires a Bachelor's degree or minimum 7+ years of food manufacturing industry related experience and or/training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong knowledge of food ingredients (raw material), food packaging, and/or food manufacturing processes are required.
  • Ability to utilize advanced data analysis and criticalthinking skills to discern quality and pricing issues, identify the price driven factors (such as the macroeconomic environment), research and forecast market outlook, product demand and price, and perform market analysis to provide alternatives and options for decision making.
  • Strong sourcing skills and purchasing experience with raw material and packaging material.
  • Ability to lead negotiations.
  • Project management: leads and drives the project, provides excellent customer service, and meets project deadlines.
  • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Experience in SAP is a plus.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Bilingual in English & Chinese (Mandarin or Cantonese) or English & Spanish is a plus.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Ability to calculate and analyze figures and amounts such as rates, increases, percentages, variance, deductions, formulation, and adjustments.
