    In this software engineering role, you will design and implement distributed systems to make Capital Group's investment process measurably more efficient and effective. You will design and own services and launch critical features to impact over $2 trillion in assets under management.

    • You successfully design and build projects from inception to completion, as well as operate them.
    • You bring a high level of craftsmanship to your work, ensuring integrity in both form and function.

    • You bring a cloud-first approach to designing robust, distributed, and scalable services for both data processing and calculation.

    • You work to identify and resolve the root causes of endemic problems, and collaborate effectively with other teams to implement correct, long-term fixes.
    • You work with a sense of urgency, and design and build simple and pragmatic solutions which solve complex problems.
    • You can decompose, explain, and delegate larger-scale technical objectives to your team.
    Required Skills & Experience
    • 6+ years of professional software development experience, with a focus on data engineering, in at least one modern language such as C#, Python, Java, Go, TypeScript, JavaScript.
    • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related technical field or equivalent experience
    • Developing robust and scalable backend services and APIs.
    • Design, build, and optimize data pipelines to collect, process, and transform data from various sources.
    • Designing systems that handle large-scale data processing.
    • Strong OO and functional design skills with a grasp of common design patterns.
    • Strong understanding of data modeling techniques and experience with relational, graph, and non-relational databases, SQL.
    • Experience with cloud native development.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and high emotional intelligence.
    • Experience working collaboratively within an agile team, including test-driven development.
    • Track record of successfully delivering enterprise-grade software into production.
    Preferred Skills & Experience
    • Experience with data lakes, Dremio, dbt, Apache Spark/Iceberg/Arrow is a big plus.
    • Experience with full-stack development, particularly in and , is a big plus.
    • Experience building and monitoring cloud solutions with AWS.
    • Financial services experience is a big plus.
    Seattle Base Salary Range: $187,370-$299,792

    In addition to a highly competitive base salary, per plan guidelines, restrictions and vesting requirements, you also will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, plus Capital's annual profitability bonus plus a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings.
