    Description
    Boulder County Information Technology (IT) Department is seeking a

    Database Developer

    to join our Data Architecture team.

    The Database Developer will help create a county-wide data warehouse and ETL processes that supports the 22 departments and offices in our organization.

    You will work with business experts and data analysts across the county to design and build tables they will use for reporting and analysis.

    You will build and support data pipelines to ingest data from a variety of different sources and formats into the county's data warehouse.

    You will support our team as we transition our data infrastructure to Microsoft Azure.

    Your work will support a wide variety of public services, including human resources, financial data, human services, public assets, and law enforcement.

    This is a

    full-time, benefited position.

    This position will work

    Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week.


    This position will work remotely with an occasional need to come into the office located at th Street in Boulder, CO.

    Under Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines, this position is

    exempt.

    Boulder County requires its employees to

    reside

    in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.
    Hiring Salary Range

    :

    $81,

    $99,402.00 Annually

    Perform database development, including designing and building database tables, writing data transformation stored procedures in SQL, and creating data pipeline/ETL packages to move data between various locations and formats.

    Monitor and troubleshoot daily ETL processes and test suites to ensure completion and data accuracy

    Analyze extremely messy data sources, to answer questions, troubleshoot quality issues, create reliable ETL processes, and make data architecture recommendations.

    Gather requirements for business intelligence and data warehouse infrastructure from non-technical staff members in various departments
    Create database/data table designs following dimensional modeling best practices
    Follow agile development practices, including sprint planning, test driven development, demos, and daily stand-ups.
    Write and maintain test scripts that check for data accuracy, relevancy, and completeness.
    Create system documentation, user documentation and maintenance and support documentation for the data warehouse
    Train users in how to use the data warehouse and business intelligence tools
    Perform related work, as required
    May be reassigned during emergency situations

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

    Boulder County is looking for well qualified candidates to fill our positions. Any combination of work experience and education in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) field is encouraged. In this position, we are looking for

    a minimum of 6 years of combined education and experience.


    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    Demonstrated expertise designing and implementing relational databases.
    Proficiency in SQL and writing stored procedures
    Experience building ETL pipelines, preferably using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
    Interest and ability to work in a patient and friendly manner with staff and personnel in other departments


    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    Understanding of dimensional modeling (facts and dimensions)
    Experience with Microsoft Azure business intelligence products (Data Factory, Azure SQL Database)
    Programming and scripting experience, e.g. python, C#
    Experience with REST web services


    SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

    Candidates will be required to complete a take-home technical test, which will be reviewed during the final interview round.
