    About the Role
    • Lane County Behavioral Health seeks a skilled Peer Support Specialist (PSS) to join the Aid and Assist Team.
    • The ideal candidate will engage at a systems level and in client care for adults with severe mental illness.
    • Responsibilities include providing outreach and support in the community, adult correction facilities, and the state hospital.
    • Support individuals' participation in community-based restoration.

    This role entails collaborating with various professionals such as behavioral health staff, court personnel, and law enforcement.

    Additionally, candidates must hold certification as an Adult Mental Health Peer Support Specialist.

    About Lane County's Forensic Behavioral Health Programs
    *Lane County employees may be eligible for student loan repayment:
    • Public Service Loan Forgiveness
    • National Health Service Corps

    Schedule: Monday - Friday; 8:00am - 5:00pm.

    *This role is represented by AFSCME*

    Training:
    • Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade.
    Experience:
    • Preferably six (6) months of experience as a peer advocate in a mental health system.
    • Experience in facilitating groups and committee participation is advantageous.
    Special Requirements:
    • State of Oregon Peer Support Specialist certification.
    • Registered as an Adult Mental Health Peer Support Specialist THW (Traditional Health Care Worker).
    • Completion of 40 Hour Adult Mental Health Peer Support Specialist Training & Certification.
    • Various documentation required for credentialing.
    • Must possess a valid driver's license at the time of application.

    A Peer Support Specialist must have a background relating to mental health services or substance use disorder recovery.

    Please note that the county will verify license and certification status.

    Travel within and occasionally outside Lane County is required for this position.
