    About the Opportunity

    Lane County Behavioral Health is seeking a skilled Peer Support Specialist to join the team as a mobile crisis service responder for the MCS-LC program. This position involves providing crucial support to individuals in behavioral health crisis situations throughout the county. The ideal candidate will have experience in supporting individuals with mental health challenges or substance use disorders, offering them hope and encouragement.

    Successful candidates should be solution-oriented, passionate about helping others, and eager to make connections. Registration as an Adult Mental Health Peer Support Specialist with the Oregon Health Authority is a requirement.

    About the Department

    Lane County Behavioral Health serves over 1,600 individuals with behavioral health conditions, offering a range of services from prevention to aftercare to promote resilience and recovery.

    Schedule: 2:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m. on various days

    Initial schedules will span from Sunday to Thursday or Tuesday to Saturday, between 2:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m., with the potential for shifting to different hours as the program expands. Overtime, night shifts, weekends, and some holidays may be required. This role involves community-based work and travel.

    Requirements

    • Twelfth-grade completion or equivalent
    • Experience as a peer advocate in a mental health system (preferred)
    • Experience in group facilitation and committee participation (preferred)
    • State of Oregon Peer Support Specialist certification
    • Registration as an Adult Mental Health Peer Support Specialist THW
    • 40-Hour Adult Mental Health Peer Support Specialist Training & Certification
    • Valid driver's license

    Additional Information

    • This position requires a criminal background check
    • Successful completion of a drug screening test
    • Travel within and occasionally outside Lane County for meetings
