    Our client located in the Chelmsford, MA area has a perm/direct hire opening for a Controls Engineer.

    Candidates should come from an electrical engineering background or at least have an AS or BSEE or Electronics Engineering and be proficient in industrial control systems, ladder logic/structured text/function block programming, touch-screen HMI (Human Machine Interface) development, and PLCs.

    Preference is given to candidates familiar with Allen-Bradley (Rockwell Automation, Micrologix) or Mitsubishi (GX Developer) development tools, but will consider other tools/software as well. This role encompasses various responsibilities including development, testing, validation, documentation, manufacturing transition, technical field support, and troubleshooting.

    Support existing Allen Bradley MicroLogix and Mitsubishi FX5U PLC-based control systems, encompassing data logging, HMIs, sensors, and associated electronics.

    Provide troubleshooting and technical support to in-house manufacturing, as well as field service technicians/application engineers and occasionally directly to customers.

    Develop and execute plans for product improvement, feature integration, bug fixes/patches, and cost reduction.

    Offer validation testing and support for software modifications and design revisions.

    Conduct root cause investigations and testing of failed or returned components.

    Design, assemble, wire prototypes, and test setups as required.

    Create and update electrical schematics using AutoCAD.

    Working knowledge of industrial electronics such as relays, contactors, breakers, fuses, motors, switches, temperature sensors, power supplies, and cabling/connectors/plugs/wiring.

    Familiarity with RS-232, Modbus RTU, and Ethernet IP communication protocols.
