    Position Summary

    The Manager of Facilities and Safety will manage the maintenance of all SDWP equipment, buildings, and property; manage and coordinate office moves, new construction, and contracts.

    The Manager of Facilities and Safety will also develop and maintain an effective accident prevention program and occupational safety and health program to be implemented at HQ and manage the current ones at the 5 career centers across San Diego County.

    The manager will manage all facilities, safety compliance for all 5 career centers and HQ, emergency preparedness, space planning, budget management, staff leadership and vendor management.

    The Manager of Facilities and Safety will have direct responsibility and oversight of the Career Center Operator contract.
    Essential Functions

    Regularly inspects company equipment, buildings, and property; oversees maintenance of property including but not limited to offices, production areas, public areas, and equipment through development and implementation of preventive maintenance program.

    Ensures all maintenance and repairs are completed in a timely, cost-effective manner and according to all specifications at the 5 career centers and Headquarters.

    Plans utilization of space and facilities; inspects buildings and office areas to evaluate suitability for occupancy.
    Conducts all pre-planning and coordination of office moves, additions, and/or changes; coordinates all necessary work to accomplish

    move/addition/change

    including but not limited to cost estimates, bid sheets, layouts, and contracts for construction and acquisitions.
    Interfaces with appropriate staff/managers to receive information regarding facilities' needs; ensures timely response to requests.

    Interfaces with appropriate staff/managers, engineers, and outside contractors to review and/or develop renovation and new construction plans, coordinates communication with and work of outside contractors.

    Ensures all fire and safety inspections are completed and any discrepancies corrected; ensures property is in compliance with all safety and sanitation policies, procedures, and regulations.

    Supervises workers engaged in moving furniture and equipment, preparing facilities for occupancy, maintenance and repair of equipment, buildings, and property.

    Possesses and maintains thorough knowledge of city and state building codes and all local, state, and federal regulations.
    Prepares accurate and timely reports as required.

    Develops and coordinates a training program designed to instruct employees in general safe work practices plus specific instruction with regard to hazards unique to any job assignment.

    Performs scheduled periodic inspections to identify and correct any unsafe conditions and work practices, improve workplace operations, and control hazards.

    Investigates and reduces accidents and losses in compliance with occupational safety and health regulations.
    Communicates, distributes, and enforces site specific safety procedures and federal, state, and local safety and health regulations.

    Maintains thorough knowledge of federal and state OSHA regulations and web sites; maintains up-to-date knowledge of safety codes and regulations; distributes and/or posts new or revised safety standards that affect the company.

    Establishes and documents quarterly training programs for all employees.

    Conducts and documents safety meetings with appropriate staff to cover all activities regarding safety of employees, property, and public liability exposures.

    Provides safe and healthy working conditions and establishes and enforces safe practices at all times by all employees.
    Encourages employees and supervisors to report all unsafe conditions immediately and schedules or coordinates repairs as soon as possible.
    Work with P&C with employee ergonomic assessments.
    Daily oversight of career center operator and management of all HQ facility's needs.
    Perform other related duties as assigned by Management.
    Job Requirements
    Associate degree in facilities management, occupational health & safety, industrial engineering or 10+ years' related work experience.
    Three to five (3-5) years' supervisory or management experience.
    Six to eight (6-8) years' experience working in facilities and safety environment.
    Good judgement with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.
    Knowledge of all safety requirements under Cal/OSHA Safety & Health Training.
    Ability to perform the physical labor necessary.
    Strong organizational, problem solving and analytical skills.
    Computer proficiency, particularly with the Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
    Fundamental Requirements
    Bachelor's degree in facilities management, Occupational Safety, or related field.
    Trade certificate.
    Thorough understanding of state and federal regulations pertaining to workplace safety, building codes and environmental regulations.
    Ergonomic knowledge.
    Certified Safety Professional (CSP).

    Our benefits include:

    Compensation for this position ranges from $76,857-$105,050.
    In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share the base salary range for this position.

    If you are hired at San Diego Workforce Partnership, your final base salary (within the pay range), will be determined based on factors such as education, knowledge, skills, and experience.

    In addition to those factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider the internal equity of our current team members when determining any final offer.

    Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the full base salary range for the role.

    Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future and continued salary growth.
