    Description

    Protection and Control Engineer

    We are currently looking for a Hybrid Protection and Control Engineer with a minimum of 4 years of experience in protection and control system design, cost estimating, and bidding document preparation for commercial, industrial, generation and renewables. Typical system voltage levels range from 138 kV to 2.4kV. This position can be filled in any of our New York State offices (offices are located in most major cities). This role is open to both local and relocation candidates.

    The Building Engineering Division supports complete building engineering services including MEP and structural engineering. Services include everything from initial feasibility studies to construction, and everything in between. Our team of engineers are incredibly well versed in their respective fields.

    This role is able to be hired at multiple levels depending on experience.

    Duties

    • Design projects working directly with clients to develop project scope, identify problems, and propose solutions.
    • Typical requirements include Protection and Control drawings and documentations (relay one-lines, three-lines, AC/DC schematics, I/O lists, and relay settings, configuration files and etc), panel construction specifications (panel and interconnect wiring as well as panel layouts and elevations), and other supporting documentation.
    • Comfortable evaluating the interoperability, control features, and communication/protocol aspects of protective relays, RTUs, LTC Controllers, and other equipment as well as perform power system load flow studies, fault studies, relay setting coordination.
    • Aid in commissioning as needed pertaining to system startups and functional checks.

    Salary Range: $90,000 - $135,000 per year

    The specific salary offered may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate's relevant experience, education, and work location.

    Requirements

    • A BS in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology or related field.
    • 4 or more years of experience in protection and controls
    • A PE license from a US State is desired but not required
    • Knowledge of Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), NERC, NEC, NESC, NEMA, and ANSI standards are used in designing substation is critical.
    • Experience with telecommunications, protective relaying, and automation (SCADA) is required
    • Familiarity with Schweitzer Engineering, General Electric and Basler equipment preffered.
