James Cerasoli
Manufacturing / Mechanical
Services offered
With 4 years' experience in engineering as both a design engineer and manufacturing engineer/supervisor, James is looking to return to engineering full-time again after selling real estate in the Hamptons and doing freelance engineering work. Taking a leap outside of the 9-5 taught James some incredibly valuable lessons including taking responsibility and ownership for his own actions and performance, P/L management, taking calculated risks and having to think creatively and on his feet.
Experience
Manufacturing Engineer at COSA Xentaur Corp.
Sept. 2018 - Jan. 2021
- Held ownership and saw over eight sensor and transmitter product lines.
- Due to COVID layoffs, James took over the roles of both the production manager and lead manufacturing engineer at the age of 24.
- Self-taught lean manufacturing principles, material flow, and how to design and implement a level, pull-based production control system in urgent times.
- Utilized value-stream mapping to re-design the warehouse and production floor to reduce waste through various means such as producing an efficient work flow, optimizing material locations and minimizing delivery routes.
- Within 3 months, the on-time delivery rate was improved by nearly 100%.
- Broke down "old and slow" processes to ultimately create visual cues and production schedules that focused on a Kanban, pull-based manufacturing environment that prioritized manufacturing processes with production staff.
Real Estate Agent with Douglas Elliman in Sag Harbor
Feb. 2021 - Dec. 2021
- Investor of real estate and holder of a real estate sales license on the side.
- Was offered to work alongside a Luxury Hamptons' Broker in Sag Harbor.
- Broke $12M in real estate sales in the first year.
- Learned valuable negotiation skills, extensive marketing, managing human emotions, working under strict deadlines and delivering in a highly competitive environment.
Freelance Engineering Work
Sept. 2019 - Sept. 2022
- Worked with production to assess new fixtures and tooling needs that were required for maximum throughput efficiency. (Jim's Repair Shop)
- Managed the Quality Control department of a busy Manhattan Shoe Repair Shop where James designed and implemented a more autonomous and fool-proof system saving many man hours and quality issues.
- Self-taught and became proficient with G-code within Fusion 360 to program CNC operations based on preliminary 3D models and designs for a luthier.
- Manned CNC operations for carvings, engravings and cutouts.

Earned my Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering at Manhattan College with a 3.5 GPA
