- Provide leadership and mentoring to less experienced engineers/designers.
- Perform technical review on engineering and design.
- Perform conventional /complex engineering calculations for facilities study, voltage drop, equipment sizing, pole loading, etc.
- Full understanding of full project life cycle.
- Design distribution facilities utilizing client standards / NESC standards including overhead and underground distribution facilities including but not limited to distribution equipment installation, feeder / cable replacement, line extension, voltage optimization, distribution automation, and fiber optic installation, etc.
- Prepare proposals and engineering / project cost estimates.
- Maintain excellent client relationships.
- Preparation and development of both overhead and underground distribution work packages utilizing GIS, CAD, Work Management Systems (WMS) and multiple client systems.
- Responsible for handling field work / engineering / design / drafting of deliverables from simple to complex projects.
- PE license strongly preferred or currently pursuing
- Strong knowledge of overhead and underground construction specifications.
- Strong knowledge of distribution systems and design
- 5 years + of experience engineering / designing overhead and underground distribution projects.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, which includes verbal and written.
- Ability to adapt and modify standard techniques, procedures and criteria's.
- Experience with the National Electric Safety Code (NESC) and construction standards
- Experience with GE SmallWorld and ESRI ArcGIS/ArcFM
- Experience with Pole Foreman, AutoCAD, Asset Suite, Maximo, and Hyperion etc.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and comfortable working in both field and office setting.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited college / university, preferably in Electrical Engineering.
- EIT – engineer in training required
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience. Completion of
- Master's degree in related field can be substituted for 1 year of experience.
- Relevant experience is either working directly with an electric utility or an electric utility consulting company, performing design engineering and leading a team.
- Selected candidate must work from Chicago suburb office.
