    About the Department
    The Strategy & Rare Disease (STARS) organization drives the long-term strategic direction of Novo Nordisk Inc. (NNI)/North America Operations (NAO) and leads all US commercial efforts for Novo Nordisk's Rare Disease portfolio.

    The mandate of STARS is to facilitate the development and to coordinate the execution of the long-term strategy, defining a sustainable business model in US beyond a 5-year time horizon.

    This department serves as the insiders of the US market when informing and help shaping upstream decisions around future investments and assets.

    The Rare Disease portfolio includes products in the hemophilia and growth disorders therapeutic areas, new products in the pipeline, and products acquired through business development efforts in existing and new areas.

    The STARS team collaborates and partners with groups across NAO, Research & Early Development, Development, innovation hubs across NN, other affiliates, and global.

    The Position


    The Senior Manager - New Product Commercialization (NPC) and 5D will lead and execute strategic and tactical elements of commercialization of assets from T-3 years to launch in Rare Disease.

    This individual will ensure development and implementation of pipeline assets delivering US tactical execution and Go to Market plans for successful launches.

    They will implement effective pre-launch and launch plans to maximize the value of the pipeline asset.

    Influences and aligns key stakeholders, including Global Brand Team, Global Medical, CMR partners, Novo Nordisk Inc (NNI) cross-functional teams and executive management.

    Manager will also execute the development of strategy and marketing plans for 5D including connected devices and digital therapeutics, diagnostics for rare disease.

    Relationships

    Reports to the Director, New Product Commercialization (NPC), and works most closely with Rare Disease NPC team.

    This role also works closely with Rare Disease Marketing leads to seek input into strategy and gain commercialization plan alignment.

    Other internal relationships include those with Medical, Sales, Regulatory, Legal, Market Access, Global Marketing and Global Medical. External relationships include relations with key thought leaders and professional services vendors.

    Essential Functions
    New Product Commercialization and 5D
    Collaborate with Director, NPC and cross functional stakeholders to develop key global planning documents, e.g., Product Development Plan, Target Product Profile and Early commercialization plans
    Support US commercial team efforts to represent the US perspective and ensure launch readiness of pipeline assets
    Fully understand key disease dynamics, market potential, and competitive landscape in order to develop business cases and support launch excellence
    Plans, initiates and executes market shaping strategies for assigned products and build cross-stakeholder alignment
    Executes innovative and compelling marketing campaigns to support robust launch efforts
    Build compelling personal and non-personal promotional tactics in support of market shaping and product launch efforts
    Lead innovation efforts to support rare disease portfolio with solutions that wrap around our brands
    Ensure launch readiness of diagnostic offerings, digital therapeutics and device advancements to ensure successful launches
    Ensure the effective alignment of digital health tactics across the various customer segment marketing activities to drive business objectives
    Launch Strategy
    Executes Strategic and Tactical launch plans and ensures alignment with Marketing leadership, cross-functional stakeholders and Global teams
    Collaborates and coordinates with global launch office
    Maintains project management discipline to manage launch activities towards high quality deliverables, and preparing or coordinating preparation of team meeting agenda and discussion materials
    Project management and coordination including monitoring and tracking of the launch plans as well as team budget management
    Works with Field Sales to ensure marketing programs are developed that strongly support the direct and indirect needs with customers
    Develops training materials for sales teams to ensure readiness for launch products
    Project Management
    Influences and aligns global teams to ensure that US market needs and critical success criteria are incorporated into global strategic, tactical and investment plans
    Manages external partners and agencies to deliver timely and robust marketing collateral in support of launch brands
    Drives strategic initiatives such as LAP (Launch Activity Plan) involving and coordination between core team and extended NNI teams to gather, assimilate and develop Launch Plan
    Demonstrates market, industry, and customer understanding
    Oversees time and costs associated with activities to ensure vendor, agency or HCP consultant estimates are realistic for agreed upon deliverables; and ensures reconciliation reports are completed
    Utilizes knowledge of competitor products, trends, and activities to create effective product differentiation which enhances brand plans, tactics, and product positioning
    Utilizes knowledge of the healthcare and pharmaceutical industry to generate insights, develop strategies and tactics to support launch products
    Develops the tactical plan in line with launch brand strategic focus and objectives
    Identifies opportunities for new and innovative promotional channels to communicate brand benefits to key customer groups
    Builds and maintains trusting, collaborative relationships and alliances with others inside and outside of the organization, focused on addressing key business issues, objectives, and processes
    Oversees time and costs associated with activities to ensure vendor, agency or HCP consultant estimates are realistic for agreed upon deliverables; and ensures reconciliation reports are completed

    Physical Requirements

    20% overnight travel required.

    Qualifications
    A Bachelor's degree required, MBA preferred
    Understanding HCP landscape as it relates to US and Global Compliance preferred
    Minimum of 8 years in sales and/or brand management/marketing experience within the Pharmaceutical industry required
    Excellent presentation/communications skills required
    Solid understanding of the marketplace and competition, preferably within rare disease
    Experience working on Launch Brands in US and/or Global capacity preferred
    Experience with biopharmaceutical and injectable products is a plus

    Proven ability to work on cross functional teams
    Strong communications, project management skills and relationship building capacity to ensure timely execution and appropriate follow up
    Must exhibit strategic thought and leadership with the ability to think and lead at the big picture level as well as the ability to translate strategic objectives into specific initiatives and manage successful execution
    Experience in budget management as well as attention to detail and ability to adequately forecast and make adjustments accordingly required
