This position is eligible for incentive compensation and has a maximum incentive opportunity of 10% of base salary.


The CalSTRS Investments Branch is seeking an experienced individual to work as an Investment Officer II on the Investment Operations team.


  • Investment Operations provides operational services and oversight across all asset classes of the Investments Branch. This includes presettlement and posttrade portfolio controls, trade and cash flow management, portfolio setup and onboarding, and total fund reporting. Additionally, the team serves as a control function to protect the total plan and mitigate operational and custodial risk.
  • Under the direction of the Associate Portfolio Manager, the incumbent provides investment and financial expertise, serves as a lead the operational complexities in managing the CalSTRS' Investment Portfolio and performs a wide range of analytical and technical work to support the functions of Investment Operations. The incumbent is expected to perform complex duties requiring a high degree of independence, confidentiality, creativity and discretionary judgment.
  • Knowledge of investment principles and practices

An incumbent who possesses a professional certification as a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) may receive a 5% monthly base pay differential.


  • Every 12 months, based on performance evaluation, employees may receive a 5% salary increase until they reach the maximum salary for the position.

Working Conditions

  • CalSTRS offers a hybrid approach with staff working onsite at our Headquarters in West Sacramento 23 days per week.
This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without the need for visa sponsorship by the start date of employment with CalSTRS.
