Open Competitive: 60 semester credit hours including or supplemented by 15 semester credit hours in computer science.

This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).


Duties Description


Under the general direction of an Information Technology Specialist 3, SG-23, within the Chief Technology Office, Workplace Services Bureau, Inside Services Section, the Information Technology Specialist 1, SG-14, will work with the Imaging Build team, imaging, receiving, and delivering equipment to the local agencies as required.

Specific duties will include but are not limited to the following:

  • ??Image various desktops, laptops, and Thin Client as required.
- ??Receive equipment when it arrives at the facility.
- ??Assist imaging and learn to troubleshoot various imaging issues.
- ??Assist with equipment audits once per quarter.
- ??Deliver imaged equipment as needed to the various local agencies and stock rooms.
- ??Move equipment between warehouses as needed.


Additional Comments
Some positions may require fingerprinting.
Some positions may require up to 25% travel and/or lifting up to 50 lbs. Some positions are pending Civil Service approval. Details of position(s) will be described further if you are selected for an interview.
Positions located in New York City, will receive an additional $3,400 downstate adjustment location pay with regular annual salary. Positions located in the Mid-Hudson will receive an additional $1,650 adjustment location pay.

At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination.

Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State.

While serving permanently in a NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.
