Scope of job: In charge of developing and implementing safety programs for AJR's workforce and work environment. Responsibilities revolve around conducting regular inspections to ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations, devising preventive measures, spearheading training, and investigating workplace accidents and identify causes to ensure that it would not happen again. Furthermore, as a manager, it is essential to encourage employees to reach goals, all while implementing every policy and safety regulation of AJR.
Reports to: Human Resources Manager
Education and Experience:
· Bachelors degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field required
Expertise:

· Extensive knowledge of environmental regulations and policies.
· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Proficient in technology and equipment used in environmental inspections.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

Responsibilities:
Develop the organization's health and safety programs as follows:
· Lead the operations safety initiative by providing ongoing training, measuring, and reporting safety within all governmental and regulatory compliance to enhance safety awareness and reduce the frequency of accidents/injuries. Interacts with all levels of the organization and maintains a strong presence in the production areas to create and uphold a positive safety and environmental work environment.
· Leads safety meetings and acts as a resource for the group. Investigates the root causes of accidents and prepares reports with the findings and corrective actions.
· Develop, implement, administer, and maintain EHS programs, provides training and determines competency of trainees in according with Company and regulatory requirements. Assures that all applicable recordkeeping meets the legal requirements and established policies.
· Lead creation of Site-specific EHS goals in support of corporate, initiatives designed to drive EHS&S culture, compliance, and results. Reviews EHS trends and takes direct action to effectively drive continual improvement projects and develops regular communications tools to support the EHS culture at the location.
· Conducts periodic on-site facility audits to check for compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines.
· Manage completion of site and workstation-level Risk assessments to identify and prioritize EHS&S aspects and leads activities to ensure that key EHS operational controls are in place to ensure the EHS action items are resolved in a timely manner.
· Advise management and staff on the practical and necessary steps to assure processes and equipment meet the standards set forth by the law and minimize risks to fellow employees, the public or the environment.
· Conduct regular inspections on PPE, environmental, and physical condition of the facility, equipment, and security systems to identify defects EHS processes and suggest opportunities for improvement.
· Perform timely investigations of accidents, identification of root cause and rapid correction of contributing factors with documented closure. Provides support in auditing of environmental activities and the management of waste materials.
· Administer the location prescription eyewear, safety shoe and uniform program as well as planning, organizing, pricing, and overseeing EHS special projects as deemed necessary.
· Administer authorized training as needed
· Participates with ISO14001 audits and ensures compliance to the Health and Environmental System
· Other duties as assigned
Physical requirements:
· Physically able to conduct inspections and carry equipment used for inspections.
· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
· Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at a time.
