- Perform challenging criminal and administrative investigations for the Office of the Secretary of State.
- Support enforcement initiatives of the Office of the Secretary of State and collaborating boards.
- Enforce relevant Georgia statutes, policies, and board rules.
- Investigate alleged violations of laws and regulations at various levels.
- Conduct thorough investigations and prepare comprehensive reports.
- Prepare detailed reports on investigative findings and recommended actions.
- Analyze records to establish connections in evidence chains.
- Identify case issues and evidence requirements based on charge analysis.
- Collaborate with state, local, and federal agencies on pertinent cases.
- Work with other authorities on tasks like surveillance and research.
- Gather and validate evidence through interviews, observations, and record analysis.
- Conduct background checks as necessary.
- Provide testimony in legal proceedings.
- Maintain POST in-service training for certification.
- Statewide travel may be necessary.
- Perform assigned related duties.

Criminal Investigator I at the Office of the Georgia Secretary of State
Reporting to the Investigations Area Supervisor, the Criminal Investigator I is responsible for conducting criminal, civil, and administrative investigations within the authority of the Office of the Georgia Secretary of State.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
Three (3) years' experience in law enforcement or a related field is required. Possession of Peace Officers Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) (PBLE) certification in Georgia, a valid driver's license, and being 21 years or older and a U.S. citizen with strong moral character is mandatory.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: High school diploma or equivalent completion. An associate degree with three years of relevant experience, a bachelor's degree with one year of relevant experience, or three years of directly related experience are accepted. Alternatively, one year of equivalent experience at a lower level may be considered. Note: Some roles may require a valid driver's license or POST certification eligibility.
