National Geographic is seeking a Manager, Social Media to oversee the development and implementation of strategic and creative initiatives in support of TV brand and title marketing priorities across social media platforms.
A successful candidate will be responsible for handling brand campaigns and content development initiatives from inception to deployment - with a focus on best-in-class creative social stunts, community engagement strategy, as well as creative asset development and delivery.
Additionally, they will have an eye towards editorial and always-on social executions.We are looking for a passionate digital strategist who has experience managing social marketing campaigns, agency work, internal team relationships and busy timelines.
Excelling in this role requires a knowledge of what is trending/current on social, an aptitude for developing insights-driven global strategies, a deep and current knowledge of each platform's offerings, how to best utilize influencers, a keen eye for compelling and innovative content and creative and excellent project management skills.
They will work with and on key social media and digital platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, Threads, YouTube, Reddit and Snapchat as well as seek out emerging platforms that can help grow our fan base and brand.
ResponsibilitiesPartner closely with the title marketing team to create high-impact, conversation-driving social media Nat Geo campaigns in support of brand and title initiatives.
Manage strategy and creative execution for vertical video programming on TikTok and Instagram Reels.Support team members in management and growth on Nat Geo editorial accounts.
Leverage analytics in continuous data-backed decision-making to evolve social media campaign tactics.
Partner with the broader marketing title teams on talent social training, on-set social capture, live social media event coverage, digital activations and paid media creative, influencer activations etc.
Work closely with marketing to create high-impact moments around title debuts, announcements, press etc.Manage creative development of social content through the pipeline including giving creative direction and notes, along with securing final approvals and sign-off.
Develop and own goals and performance metrics for the social handles including @NatGeoTV, @NatGeoWILD and @NatGeoDocs.Collaborate with agency partners to craft brand engagement and content strategy for @NatGeoDocs account.
Develop and execute impactful synergy and integrated marketing executions with strategic brand partners across The Walt Disney Company.
Foster and build excellent working relationships with talent, filmmakers and show-runners, including educating on social mediabest practices and building mutually beneficial content relationships.
Partner with social platforms to identify new opportunities and develop innovative activations.Basic Qualifications
5+ years of social media marketing experience.
Team-first mentality.
Deep understanding of social platforms.
Creative, proactive and independent thinking.
Ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines.
Strong creative writing skills.
Effective communication skills in both verbal and written form.
Ability to build and manage internal and external relationships.
Extreme attention to detail.
Proficiency with Airtable, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Keynote.
Experience with social media content management systems.
Ability to travel as required to direct shoots as well as capture content opportunities on set, in the field and at events.
Preferred QualificationsExperience shooting and editing social-first content in a field-based environment.
Experience working directly with talent to achieve mutually-beneficial social media content strategies.
