    Assistant Professor, NCLEX Success

    Role and Responsibilities

    The Assistant Professor for NCLEX Success facilitates NCLEX and HESI preparation for current distance education learners in the PN, ASN, and BSN programs as well as graduates. The incumbent will incorporate innovative teaching methodologies, cutting-edge technologies, and other industry trends reflecting advancements in the discipline by promoting an interdisciplinary approach to advanced practice nursing education and healthcare delivery within and outside the College. The incumbent will be accountable for the delivery of the nursing curriculum in accordance with the mission, vision, values, and purposes of the Program. The Assistant Professor facilitates NCLEX success by providing a supportive and individualized coaching experience in all aspects of the NCLEX preparation process including assisting learners and graduates to identify their personal learning needs, interpreting learner knowledge gaps, clarifying and demonstrating testing strategies, and monitoring progress and performance by analyzing available data, resulting in NCLEX success, and the success of the College's mission.

    • Supports and prepares assigned learners to achieve NCLEX success through meaningful interactions, consistent communication, and customized learning plans for those identified as at-risk.
    • Monitors, engages, and maintains open communication with learners throughout the coaching process including grading and attendance of assigned activities.
    • Develops, outlines, and facilitates scheduled study sessions and 1:1s.
    • Completes initial and final evaluations for assigned learners and graduates, and makes recommendations for transcript clearance.
    • Attends NCLEX faculty meetings, participates in committees, engages in shared decision-making, and other faculty activities as required.
    • Participates in the successful implementation of other functional projects as they arise.

    Qualifications and Education Requirements

    • Earned Graduate degree with a major in nursing from an accredited institution.
    • Active, unencumbered RN or APRN license from state of residence and ability to obtain RN and NP licensure in any jurisdiction required by the College, including a valid multi-state license.
    • Either has an earned Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) credential or commits to obtaining this certification within a one-year period.
    • Maintains current knowledge in multiple areas of nursing practice.
    • Maintains proficiency in online delivery of nursing education.
    • Maintains certification records as required by accreditation, facility, or state board of nursing.
    • Experience facilitating concept-based nursing education preferred.
    • Proficiency in at least one learning management system (LMS), Canvas preferred.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams), and other technology platforms related to the delivery of online nursing education.
    • Ability, willingness, and availability to perform needed responsibilities throughout the three academic semesters each calendar year.

    All new hires are required to attend New Collaborator Orientation (NCO) in Salt Lake City, Utah. The College will pay for travel and lodging accommodations.
