About This Role:


What You'll Do - Position Responsibilities

  • Responsible for painting the exterior and interior areas of campus facilities, fixtures and/or equipment.
  • Execute prepainting activities, including cleaning, scraping, sanding, patching, caulking, and masking of adjacent surfaces prior to painting, papering, texturing, etc. as required.
  • Stain, seal and varnish wood surfaces. Fill nail holes, cracks and joints with putty, plaster or other fillers.
  • Comply with OSHA/MSDS guidelines with respect to the use of hazardous chemicals.
  • Perform graffiti removal from the interior and exterior of buildings as required. Install/repair drywall, or other interior finishes as necessary.
  • Tape, float, and texture surfaces as needed. Provide good housekeeping, cleaning up supplies and equipment at the completion of each project.
  • Applies protective coatings such as paint, primers, stains, and sealants to a variety of surfaces.
  • Installs forms/reinforcing material. Erects scaffolding/works from ladders and mobile platforms.
  • Operates associated power tools to include saws, drills, grinders, and other tools as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

Tasks require the regular and, at times, sustained performance of moderately physically demanding work.

Some combination of climbing and balancing, to include climbing ladders, stooping, kneeling, crawling, working at heights and working in confined spaces.

May involve the lifting of moderately heavy objects, up to 45 pounds. Requires a full range of physical motion to operate manual/electrically powered tools.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Completion of a formal apprenticeship program or certification within the field of facilities painting or related field is preferred.
  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • At least (3) years of proven jobrelated experience is required.
  • A valid Texas driver's license is required.
