    Description

    Purpose:

    The Human Resource Generalist will run the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices.

    Responsibilities:

    • Assist team members with accurate personnel responsibilities, time, and attendance records/issues
    • Manage Workers Compensation process and reporting of claims
    • Assist with updating policies, handbooks, and SOPs
    • Coaching, teaching, resolving conflicts, and first level determination of corrective action
    • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open production positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
    • Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
    • Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
    • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety
    • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
    • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
    • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
    • Manage the accurate processing of LOAs and general documentation, data management
    • Support with regular strategic planning for successful growth and transition
    • Conflict resolution between team members, focusing on self-awareness/emotional intelligence
    • Assisting and ensuring delivery of Health and wellness programs to all participants
    • Successfully ensures and sustains our retention rate by communicating UW culture values through motivation and support
    • Maintaining, timely/confidentially, personnel (roster) records electronically
    • Manage UW Team Member Education Assistance Program, while ensuring proper cost management and assisting team members stay on task
    • All other duties as assigned

    Active Recruitment:

    • Recruitment and hiring non-exempt team members to support manufacturing headcount demands
    • Staffing agency management and administration
    • Responsible for new team members' orientation and successful onboarding

    Required Skills & Abilities:

    • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
    • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems.

    Education & Experience:

    • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
    • At least one year of human resource management experience preferred.
    • SHRM-CP a plus.

    Physical Requirements & Travel:

    • Ability to sit for extended periods of time and work with a computer using hands and fingers to type
    • Ability to stand for extended periods of time to deliver orientation or training sessions
    • Ability to lift/move up to 15lbs for office equipment/employee events and gathering/boxes of employee gifts etc.
    • Primary work is in an office environment with frequent trips to production floor and exposure to high levels of noise (PPE required)
    • Travel 10-15% for visits to other office locations in USA or abroad as needed, and HR tradeshows etc.
