    About the role:
    BSI America Professional Services Inc. (BSI) is hiring an EHS

    Safety Manager:

    Systems and Culture to support the Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) department at a client site in the Kalamazoo, MI area.

    This is a full-time position with benefits, located at a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility.


    EHS Safety Manager Responsibilities:

    • Safety Manager Responsibilities:
    • Ensuring / developing a fit for purpose safety management system compliant with legislation and corporate standards
    • Overseeing the safety management process to ensure timely closure of investigations and action items
    • Auditing of the sites safety systems and processes
    • Developing and implementing effective cultural improvement and engagement activities
    • Supporting the Safety Visual Management program to drive accountability and excellence in delivery

    Education/Qualifications:

    • Tertiary qualification in the appropriate EHS discipline (extensive experience will be considered in lieu of formal qualifications).
    • Minimum 10 years of manufacturing and/or pharma experience preferred
    • Bachelors degree preferred
    • Extensive experience in ergonomics, plant and/or chemical safety is highly desirable
    • Demonstrated experience in applied problem-solving and root cause analysis tools (Taproot, Six Sigma or similar).
    • A broad understanding of the pharmaceutical industry and good manufacturing practices is highly desirable.
    • Dynamic attitude with an ability to effectively coach, influence and motivate colleagues, supervisors and managers at all levels
    • Excellent written and verbal communication
    • Able to prioritize and work under pressure
