    Detroit, MI 48207
    Ferrous Processing and Trading Company, a premier processor, seller and recycler of scrap metal of all kinds. From massive auto shredding operations and specialty steel making and foundry products to nonferrous metals and industrial scrap management.     Ferrous Processing and Trading has an immediate opening for a
    Manager, Health and Safety at its Detroit, MI location.


    Position Overview:


    The Manager, Health and Safety will assist the Health and Safety Director with implementing the organizations safety program to ensure a safe, healthy and incident-free work environment.


    Typical Duties will include but are not limited to:


    Implement safety policies and procedures in compliance with the local, state and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.


    Lead the review, analysis and presentation of the company incident data to develop trending reports to inform the organization and assist in improving the corporations overall performance.

    Compile and submit incident reports required by regulatory agencies.

    Assist with the administration of workers compensation programs.

    • Assist in safety program initiatives for continuous improvement.
    • Maintain safety files and records.
    • Assist with planning and implementing work programs to train managers and employees in worksite safety practices.
    • Track training on a company basis to ensure compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
    • Keep aware of changes in legislation and advancements in safety practices to remain compliant and advance the company safety system.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications include:

    • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in a technical field, preferably safety; and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
    or ability and willingness to obtain the designation.

    Good time management skills.

    • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
    Effectively able to handle multiple tasks.

    Successful completion of a pre-employment background, physical and substance screening process.
