    The AES CE Senior SCADA Engineer is responsible for supporting the operational SCADA systems for Wind, Solar, BESS and Hybrid Power Plants.

    This person works with various SCADA vendors, O&M providers, equipment manufacturers, utilities, and internal teams to support the AES operational projects from commissioning to end-of-life.


    Main Responsibilities:
    Support SCADA systems for utility scale renewable projects split between various technologies and architectures (Wind, Solar, BESS, Hybrid, etc.)
    Directly manage SCADA enhancements including review and approval of vendor proposals impacting SCADA platforms (including but not limited to GE, Vestas, Siemens, Trimark, Isotrol, Ignition, and other)
    Improve SCADA integrations with technologies including Inverters, BESS, Wind Turbines, Trackers, Meteorological sensors and more

    Support and improve the operations of PPC (Power Plant Controller) control logic schemes to ensure plants meet requirements for curtailment, battery charge/discharge schemes, AVR (Volt-Var, PF, MVAR, etc.), Frequency Response, Substation Controls including Breakers and Capacitor Banks, PV Trackers, and more.

    Complete testing of telemetry and controls in accordance with operational requirements of interconnection utilities, ISOs/RTOs, PPA offtakers and other
    Collaborate with Information and Operational Technology teams to ensure proper equipment selection, project networking and reliable/secure connectivity
    Collaborate with Operations and Engineering teams to identify performance gaps and implement improvements
    "Close the loop" between Operations and Engineering by recording and communicating issues that can be mitigated through better design
    Manage Change of project enhancements to support operational or compliance objectives with documentation and approval within CMMS
    Participate in AES CE's growth planning process by contributing to process improvement task forces and other strategic planning activities
    Improve and develop processes for the execution of safe, quality and high-performance projects
    Educate team on changing trends in technology, standard processes and safety

    Qualifications:
    Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience in Engineering or equivalent technical field
    5+ Years of professional experience working with SCADA systems
    Familiarity with grid interconnection SCADA telemetry and control requirements across various markets and ISOs including CAISO, NYISO, PJM, MISO and ERCOT
    Relevant SCADA communication protocols, computer interfaces and media types: MODBUS, DNP3.0, OPC, Fiber, Serial, TCP/IP, Radio

    Experience in integration of various devices including Substation Devices (RTACs, Relays, Meters), Array Devices (Inverters, Trackers, Met Stations, BESS) and remote RTUs from Utilities and other 3rd Parties.

    Understanding of NERC compliance from the SCADA perspective.
    Strong interpersonal skills and ability to lead technical discussions among SCADA vendors, equipment manufacturers, utilities, and internal teams.
    Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize projects and tasks.
    High degree of dedication to a quality safety culture and an incident-free work environment
    Willingness to travel within the U.S. to support company's portfolio of assets

    The expected salary for this position, at commencement of employment, is between $ and $144.500/Annual; however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

    in addition to a full range of medical, dental, vision, life, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered.
