JOB DESCRIPTION

Knowledge of:


Computer programs and software utilized in the Housing Authority, including, but not limited to Oracle, Elite, Access, Foxpro, Paradox, WordPerfect; Microsoft Word, Lotus, Excel, Publisher, Groupwise; Unix operating architecture; Novell LAN and WAN operating procedures and systems; database design and computer program development; proper installation and implementation of new and upgrades systems; operation of a computer and assigned systems; proper maintenance and repair of computer hardware; policies and objectives of assigned department or program; oral and written communication skills; interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy; public speaking techniques.

Ability to:Receive and analyze automation requests from users and make recommendations; coordinate the installation and implementation of new and upgraded systems; troubleshoot and resolve networked hardware and software problems; provide technical support and training to staff; develop new databases to facilitate the automation of departmental functions and to meet user needs; to learn and use the operating language English, to download data from the mainframe computer; plan, coordinate and organize projects; explain procedures and train users in proper system operations; prepare and maintain records and reports; meet schedules and time lines; communicate effectively both orally and in writing; establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others; work independently with little direction; analyze situations accurately and determine appropriate course of action.


Minimum Qualifications:


Any combination equivalent to:
a bachelor's degree in computer science, management information systems or related field and three years' experience in a network environment including programming experience; certification as a NetWare Administration (CNA) within six months of date of appointment;


Special Requirement:
Possession of a valid Class "C" driver's license with a good driving record.
