- Clean rooms, common areas, and restrooms by vacuuming, washing windows, sweeping, moping, and dusting
- Perform other general cleaning tasks, including but not limited to: replenishing supplies, emptying trash bins, and disinfecting surfaces
- Keep the building in good working order, including but not limited to: cleaning the walls/woodwork, changing light bulbs, touching up paint, and performing minor repairs
- Assist with cleaning and maintaining the kitchen and lunch room according to the kitchen equipment cleaning schedule
- Move furniture and equipment for various functions
- Observe, assist, and interact with senior center participants
- Maintain outside areas within the vicinity of buildings (such as patios and the parking lot) by sweeping and clearing debris, snow, and ice
- Operate and maintain Senior Center equipment, including but not limited to: vacuum cleaners, scrubbing machines, Senior Center vehicles, and other janitorial equipment
- Monitor the HVAC system, emergency generator, and emergency exit doors
- Tidy and organize the garage and other storage areas to keep them in a neat and orderly condition
- Attend a vehicle accident prevention course offered by City of Edmond Risk Management Department
- Maintain and update reports, inventory lists, and cleaning schedules
- Obtain current First Aid and CPR training within 90 days of hire (if not already obtained)
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- 7 to 11 months related experience and or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Valid Oklahoma Driver's License and a driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrier
- Basic mathematical ability
- Basic software skills to enter information into a database, spreadsheet, and/or word processing system
- Ability to carry and climb a ladder for tasks including cleaning and changing light bulbs
- Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds (frequently)and lift up to 100 pounds (occasionally)
- Ability to pass an investigative background process and pre-employment screenings

About this Position
The Custodian for the Senior Center will perform custodial and housekeeping work for the care and maintenance of the Senior Center buildings and grounds. Their work is generally performed in accordance with established procedures, but specific instructions may be given on unusual jobs or problems. Their work is subject to inspection by a supervisor for compliance with standards of cleanliness and instructions.
