Posting Summary

  • Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Temporary Research Assistant for NJMS. This position is under supervision performs and assists with laboratory services and procedures in support of research activities of the laboratory. Performs other related laboratory duties as required.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Designs and makes parts of fiberoptic spectroscopic system using 3D printers.
  • Performs experiments (for ex, fiberoptic spectroscopic analysis, rodents behavioral tests, perfusion, surgeries, rodents brain sectioning and immunohistochemistry)
  • Maintains mouse and rat colony (for ex, genotyping, breeding, weaning)
  • Assists in conducting a continuous program of research and development regarding the analytical and instrumentation functions of the laboratory, constantly evaluating existing procedures, revising where necessary, proposing new procedures where required and evaluating suggestions and changes as proposed, in order to keep the methodology and procedures current.
  • Installs and maintains laboratory computers and equipment in good working order.
  • Submits purchase recommendations to his/her supervisor of analytical and physiological equipment and laboratory operating supplies.
  • As directed, assists in the implementation of programs and projects in special areas of interest to the division or department, conferring with the individuals involved.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Biology and Bioengineering preferred. An individual must be able to maintain mouse and rat colony, and perform immunohistochemical analysis (perfusion, sectioning, and histology).
