- Work with the Project Director, Leadership Team, Student Success Team, and support services staff to develop an effective, integrated approach to support student success and design/create a new Student Success Center.
- Prepare, interpret, and communicate student success data in partnership with the Student Success Coordinator and the Research Analyst so that it is easily accessible and used to identify and improve student success.
- Promote student success by building collaboration and improving communication between support services staff and undergraduate faculty, academic departments, schools, and colleges.
- Work with academic leadership and faculty to support deployment and evaluation of effective, modern, evidence-based pedagogies.
- Maintain a complete inventory of student success initiatives, including the scope, goals, student population, persons responsible, resources committed, and outcomes.
- Prepare regular reports on student success initiatives and outcomes for the campus community, including their overall effectiveness for the INVEST project in accordance with the approved evaluation plan.
- Uses national best practices and emerging research to develop collaborative initiatives aimed at improving student retention, persistence, and graduation rates.
- Collaborate with the IU Northwest Student Success Team to partner with the campus, colleges, schools, and departments to develop, monitor, and adjust student success plans and strategies for all undergraduate student populations.
- Access and analyze Indiana University data sources to obtain usable student success data and facilitate data-driven communication across the campus community to build and institutionalize a culture of student success and servingness.
- Provide strong leadership for the Office of Student Success and its staff and develop an effective, integrated approach to support student success.
- Develop a greater campus-wide understanding of evidence-based pedagogical and student support practices and support the adoption of these practices as appropriate. ABOUT INDIANA UNIVERSITY NORTHWEST

- A minimum of two years of demonstrated experience focused on academic and student success.

- Ph.D. or Ed.D. strongly preferred.
- Knowledge and experience of student success platforms, trends, research, and best practices.
- Excellent teamwork, interpersonal communication, and multi-tasking skills.
- Ability to exercise independent judgement and decision making.

Indiana University Northwest, a Minority Serving Institution (MSI/HSI) in Gary, IN, seeks a dynamic visionary and innovative leader to serve as the inaugural Director of Student Success (DSS). This administrator reports directly to the Associate Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and works in close consultation with the Executive Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs (EVCAA). This temporary position is supported by a U.S. Department of Education grant under the Title V, Developing Hispanic-Serving Institutions Program with expected annual renewals contingent on the availability of grant funds. Faculty rank will be determined by credentials and experience.
Responsibilities
One of seven campuses of Indiana University, IU Northwest is located in metropolitan Northwest Indiana, approximately 30 miles southeast of Chicago and 10 miles from the Indiana Dunes National Park. The campus has a diverse student population of approximately 3,500 degree-seeking students and 1,800 dual-credit students and has been recognized by the Department of Education as a minority and Hispanic serving institution. The campus offers Associate, Baccalaureate, and Master's degrees from the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Health and Human Services, the School of Business and Economics, the School of the Arts, and the School of Education. The campus is also host to IU School of Medicine-Northwest-Gary, the region's only four-year medical doctorate program.
