Summary:


Job Duties:


  • Perform experiments using bacterial cultivation, human nasal organoids, molecular biology, and genetic engineering. Work with Dr. Lemon to trouble shoot experimental issues.
  • Read scientific papers related to experiments, summarize findings, and prepare a report.
  • Participate in lab meetings and read applicable literature.
  • Prepare figures and write draft methods, figure legends, and results for experiments performed.
  • Perform ordering, check monthly reports against orders received, maintain lab supplies and inventory.
  • Maintain, demonstrate, and ensure compliance with standard biosafety and laboratory regulations.
  • Maintain general lab environment, including, but not limited to, equipment maintenance and repairs, organization, and cleanliness of the lab.

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • One year of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a basic science or equivalent education, preferably in microbiology, microbial ecology, biology, or chemical biology.
  • Experience in bacterial cultivation, excellent aseptic technique, and general skills common to a microbiology lab. Additional experience with organoids or tissue culture preferred strong documentation and organizational skills with the ability to keep accurate records of all work performed.
  • The equivalent of at least 1 year of lab research experience with bacteria. (Lab courses alone are insufficient to meet this requirement.).
  • Coding experience applied to data science and bioinformatic is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new bench research techniques with guidance and mentoring.
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic, including ability to take initiative, prioritize tasks, use good judgment and complete duties.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a team member.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and professionally in a team with diverse backgrounds.
