    Job Description

    Columbus Technical College is in search of an individual to join as a full-time Database Administrator, Jr., in the Information Technology Department. The role involves working on projects within Banner Services and Student Affairs, ensuring progress towards set goals.

    This position is full-time/exempt.

    Responsibilities:
    • Contribute to projects in Banner Services and Student Affairs offices
    • Manage multiple databases, including designing, securing, implementing, and maintaining Ellucian Banner Student DBMS
    • Maintain a strong customer-focused orientation
    • Develop expertise in the Banner SIS system
    • Integrate solutions using third-party software into the Banner SIS
    • Apply patches/upgrades to the Banner SIS
    • Effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders
    • Support Banner SIS day-to-day operations
    • Provide training and technical assistance
    • Participate in project work plan implementation
    • Conduct comprehensive research and prepare reports
    • Stay updated on industry trends
    • Foster working relationships
    • Manage complex projects with accountability
    • Prepare project documentation
    • Assist in policy implementation
    • Serve as Columbus Technical College website administrator
    • Act as a liaison between parties
    • Analyze data and recommend solutions
    • Oversee project efficiency and make necessary adjustments
    • Ensure required documentation is maintained
    • Provide user training
    • Travel as needed for meetings and training
    • Perform other assigned duties
    Competencies:
    • Demonstrate problem-solving skills and a self-starter attitude
    • Utilize operating system and database tools for issue resolution
    • Build and maintain complex queries/procedures using SQL
    • Create databases and database objects
    • Administer Web Application Services
    • Perform database and application builds
    • Manage relational database systems
    • Experience with Oracle systems
    • Plan and organize projects
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Effective problem-solving and data analysis
    • Work independently
    Minimum Qualifications:
    • CompTIA DataSys+ Certificate *OR* Associate degree in a related field *and* one (1) year of experience in DBMS design and support using Oracle, Microsoft SQL, or other DBMS
    -OR-
    • One (1) year of experience in DBMS design and support using Oracle, Microsoft SQL, or other DBMS
    Note: Experience may substitute for certifications.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    • 3+ years administering Ellucian Banner systems
    • Proficient in Oracle SQL queries
    • Experience with Nebraska bookstore software
    Salary/Benefits:
    Salary: $50,000 - $55,000 annually. Benefits include state holidays, annual leave, sick leave, Georgia Retirement, Health and Flexible Benefits Program.
