    Position Summary

    NOTE: CHATTAHOOCHEE VALLEY COMMUNITY COLLEGE OBSERVES EASTERN TIME.

    Under the general direction of the Executive Director of Student Financial Services and Title IV Compliance, the employee provides assistance to the Executive Director in the development and implementation of a Financial Aid Communication Plan to include all media. The Coordinator will be responsible for all Financial Aid communication including marketing materials, guidebooks, forms, notifications, and all outreach communication for missing documentation. The Coordinator will also serve as backup to other areas within the Financial Aid/VA Office.
    Salary: Appropriate placement on Salary Schedule E3 04: ($42,194-$56,128), which is based on years of directly related full-time experience.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    1. Maintain regular and predictable attendance
    2. Counsel students in the financial aid application process, answering questions, assisting with the completion of applications, and all other financial aid issues.
    3. Participate in the development, planning and implementation of financial aid outreach policies and strategies aimed at increasing student success to financial aid programs and services.
    4. Perform financial aid outreach and follow-up activities to targeted populations; present financial aid information to students, parents, staff, and the general public in a variety of settings, including high schools, on-campus, businesses, and community organizations.
    5. Responsible for all financial aid notifications including but not limited to financial aid award letters, scholarship letters, satisfactory academic appeal letters, return of Title IV process notification, exit counseling requirements, and courses not in program notifications.
    6. Develop and organize outreach materials and/or events targeted towards increasing awareness of financial aid programs and services.
    7. Provide information and technical assistance to students regarding eligibility, regulations, and requirements of various federal, state, and district financial programs such as grants, loans, work-study, fee waivers, scholarships, and contingency funds.
    8. Collaborate with other college departments to implement college-wide financial aid outreach efforts.
    9. Review applications and required documentation to determine financial need and program eligibility for a variety of federal, state, and district programs.
    10. Perform needs analysis and assist in packaging students for financial aid programs, enter and update data in the system.
    11. Monitor continued eligibility of students in financial aid programs, and evaluate and monitor Satisfactory Academic Progress.
    12. Maintain records and prepare reports according to established guidelines and procedures needed to meet retention requirements.
    13. Develop and Implement a financial literacy program for the College.
    14. Prepare and maintain a database of outreach activities with the timeline.
    15. Collaborate with Student Services Division to ensure students timely, accurate, and complimentary communication with prospective and enrolled students.
    16. Communicate and respond to inquiries from internal and external agencies or individuals. Provide assistance, information, and training to faculty, campus staff, and the public.
    17. Attend training sessions and workshops to remain current on financial aid regulations and procedures.
    18. Assist in the reconciliation of disbursement records and compilation of data and statistics for reporting purposes.
    19. Perform other related duties as assigned.
    20. Serve as the secondary VA counselor and certifying official, as needed.
    21. Master federal regulations and information in federal publications related to Title IV.
    22. Maintain a positive working relationship with area high schools, and meet with students, parents, and counselors.
    23. Assist the Executive Director with updating financial aid information on the College website.
    24. Serve as backup for areas within the Financial Aid/VA Office and cross-train others in Financial Aid/VA.

    6. Maintain appropriate work hours as outlined in State and College policies and assigned by supervisor or dean.
    7. Recruit potential students, both traditional and nontraditional, to the College.
    8. Represent the institution in a positive manner.
    9. Participate in advance registration, regular registration, and schedule adjustment.
    10. Serve on committees as assigned.
    11. Assist in the planning of and participate in graduation and other College activities.
    12. Participate in the College planning process.
    13. Perform other duties as assigned.
    Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree with a major concentration in business, finance, accounting, counseling, social sciences, or a related field, from a regionally accredited institution.
    • Two (2) years customer service experience OR one (1) year experience in higher education.
    • Ability to represent the College to external groups.
    • Proficiency in public speaking before small and large groups.
    • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with persons from diverse background.
    • Proficiency in English language.
    • Competent use of the Microsoft Office suite.
    PREFERRED:
    • Three (3) years of full-time experience in financial aid.

    Retirement
    The TRS was established in 1939 to provide benefits to qualified persons employed by state-supported educational institutions.
