- Bachelor's Degree in Child Life, Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Family Studies or a closely related field and
- Coursework/Training: Child life specific clinical training experience (e.g., practicum and/or internship) in a pediatric medical setting and
- Coursework/Training: Trained in child development principles and impact of illness and hospitalization on children and families: Application of therapeutic play, developmental education, and expressive modalities to address psychosocial needs of children and families
- National Certified Child Life Specialist - Association of Child Life Professionals upon hire
- 1 year' Experience working with young children and adolescents in a healthcare setting
- Completed a clinical internship (approximately 900 hours) in child life in a children's hospital
- Holds certification has a child life specialist or eligible to take the exam within the first 90 days of hire
