  • Operates, analyzes, maintains, and sustain highend computer equipment and networks modeling new conventional and unconventional aircraft, avionics, or armament systems/ subsystems in a HITL capable simulation facility
  • Plans and implements new ground test procedures, data acquisition, and data reduction techniques, specific data parameters to be recorded and formulates ground test data recording system for testing objectives
  • Coordinate with customers on the design and fabrication of simulation cockpits, hardware interfaces, electrical layouts, electrical hardware, digital computer, and various data display electronic system
  • Designs and fabricates simulation cockpits and cockpit interface subsystems for conventional aircraft and advanced manned vehicles
  • Provides assistance to senior engineers and electronics technicians and contractor personnel in various phases of projects

  • Obtain and maintain Security clearance.
  • This is a designated Drug Testing Position
  • DAWIA Certification (if applicable)
  • Subject to TDY approximately 30 days per
  • Up to 25% Travel possible
  • This position MAY be eligible for a recruitment/relocation incentive. Specifics will be discussed with the Selecting Official.
  • This position MAY be eligible for paid relocation (Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs MAY be paid). Specifics will be discussed with the Selecting Official.
  • This position MAY be eligible for a Student Loan Repayment (SLR) incentive. Specifics will be discussed with the Selecting Official.
  • Eligible for situational telework only, including Emergency and Office of Personnel Management (OPM) prescribed "Unscheduled Telework.
  • This position requires Top Secret/SCI security clearances as well as clearances with Special Access Programs.

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management positions located here

  • SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NJ 03 or equivalent to the next lower grade GS 11 in the Federal Service.
Specialized experiences is modern computer operation (Windows & Linux) desired; OT or DT flight test experience desired; demonstrated understanding of Electronic Warfare (EW) concepts desired; simulation experience and scheduling experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 1. Para-professional knowledge or the concepts, principles, and techniques or electronic, engineering, and the related knowledge of aeronautical and mechanical engineering concerned with avionics and flight simulation.

  • 2. Expert knowledge in the design and fabrication of simulation cockpits, hardware interfaces, electrical layouts, electrical hardware, digital computer, and various data display electronic systems.
  • 3. Knowledge of the operation and maintenance for highend computer equipment and networks.
  • 4. Knowledge of test function, test instrumentation, test design, coordination, and supervision, data evaluation, report preparation, facility, and administrative aspects of flight test programs.
  • 5. Knowledge and skill sufficient to plan, organize, direct, and conduct the maintenance, operations and checkout of unique simulators. Must have paraprofessional knowledge on the concepts, principles, and techniques of electronic engineering, and the related knowledge of aeronautical and mechanical engineering concerned with avionics and flight simulation
  • Must have expert knowledge in the design and fabrication of simulation cockpits, hardware interfaces, electrical layouts, electrical hardware, digital computer, and various data display electronic systems
  • Must have knowledge of test function, test instrumentation, test design, coordination, and supervision, data evaluation, report preparation, facility, and administrative aspects of flight test programs

Education:

This series covers technical positions supervising, leading, or performing work involving applying:

  • knowledge of the techniques and theories characteristic of electronics, such as a knowledge of basic electricity and electronic theory, algebra, and elementary physics;
- knowledge of electronic equipment design, development, evaluation, testing, installation, and maintenance; and
- knowledge of the capabilities, limitations, operations, design, characteristics, and functional use of a variety of types and models of electronic equipment and systems related to, but less than, a full professional knowledge of electronic engineering.
