- Provide 1:1 behavioral, academic, social, and emotional support for a student
- Build a strong relationship with the student using positive support techniques
- Verbally de-escalate student when student engages in verbal and/or physically aggressive behaviors
- Assist the classroom teachers in devising special strategies for reinforcing learning materials and skills based on an understanding of the individual student and their needs, interests, and abilities
- Work with individual student 1:1 or in small groups of students to reinforce learning of materials or skills initially introduced and outlined by classroom teachers
- Guide and assist student with class routines and in transitioning from one activity to the next
- Perform assigned supervision of student during lunch periods, recess, field trips, and all non-instructional times.
- Implement the student's behavior intervention plan and track progress accordingly
- Maintain consistent contact with the student's family providing regular updates on student progress
- Collaborate with both general education and special education teachers
- Associates Degree required; Bachelor's preferred
- Experience working with students with special needs preferred
- Hold PA certification or working towards certification is preferred
- Superior communication skills
- An ability to work collaboratively

Hebrew Public Charter Schools for Global Citizens Hebrew Public is a national network of diverse public charter schools that teach Modern Hebrew to children of all backgrounds and prepare them to be successful global citizens. Our schools are models of racial and economic integration, academic excellence, and world language learning. Our schools maintain a focus on global citizenship which leads to our students becoming empathetic, ethical, intellectually curious young adults committed to solving the world's problems. Hebrew Public schools offer partial immersion programs in Modern Hebrew with an accompanying focus on the study of Israel.
Hebrew Public's network currently has thirteen schools (eight elementary and five middle schools) in four states and the District of Columbia, serving more than 3,800 students. In NYC, we serve as the Charter Management Organization for schools in Brooklyn, Harlem, Staten Island and Philadelphia.
The network's first school in Philadelphia, Philadelphia Hebrew Public, opened in 2019, serving 156 students in Kindergarten and 1st grade. The school will expand to 6th grade in and will add a grade level each year until it ultimately serves grades K to 8 in the school year. PHP provides students with a sophisticated core curriculum in English Language Arts, mathematics, Modern Hebrew, the sciences, social studies, art, and physical education.
About the position:
The Paraprofessional plays an integral role in supporting a student identified with special needs. The paraprofessional will assist with the daily care of the student's emotional, cognitive, and other special needs.
