    Job DescriptionSalary: Up to $24 per hour

    Note: This is a 40-hour/week contract-to-hire position after an initial three-month contract period, and if both parties agree, full-time employment will be offered.

    CleanAIRE NC (CANC) is a statewide nonprofit organization working for cleaner air and solutions to climate change since 2003. With offices in Charlotte and the Triangle, CANC is driven by its mission:

    To advocate for the health of all North Carolinians by pursuing equitable and collaborative solutions that address climate change and air pollution.

    POSITION

    CleanAIRE NC (CANC) seeks an individual to serve as the Program Coordinator for a high-energy, fast-paced team. The Program Coordinator will assist the team with all aspects of CANC's programmatic work and manage deliverables, actions, and outputs for all CleanAIRE NC grant programs across the state.

    Reporting to the Deputy Director of CleanAIRE NC, the Program Coordinator will assist with planning and support for CANC's programs and is responsible for developing effective programs, overseeing activities and details, and measuring overall success. Their duties will include managing various administrative tasks, tracking the budget, and ensuring the program meets organizational goals.

    This person should have enthusiasm for and the ability to communicate CANC's mission and programs with tact, sincerity, persuasion, and passion. Steeped with lived experience and history, the ideal candidate will have firsthand experience working with Environmental Justice communities.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Assist with planning and coordination of programs and their activities
    • Create and maintain program records, reports, presentations, and proposals
    • Monitor implementation of program policies and practices
    • Work to keep programs on schedule, within stated budgets, and functioning smoothly
    • Coordinate program communication of deliverables, milestones, and issues
    • Assist in managing staff work assignments, workloads, and work schedules
    • Schedule and organize program-related meetings and events

    EXPERIENCE

    Two (2) or more years of experience is preferred.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Required Skill Set

    • Ability to make sound decisions and judgments, as well as elevate roadblocks
    • Able to coordinate and organize meetings and special events
    • Intermediate skills in the use of personal computers and related software applications
    • Able to organize resources and establish priorities
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
    • Strong leadership qualities
    • Attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects
    • Familiar with communication principles and marketing techniques
    • Ability to gather and analyze statistical data and generate reports

    Preferred/Ideal Skill Set

    • Intermediate proficiency in Asana, MS Project, or similar project management application
    • Experience in a fast-paced environment
    • Bachelor's degree in business administration or similar field
    • Experience in budgeting, bookkeeping, and reporting ideal
    • Experience in a supervisory role or coordination of a project team
    • Experience in event planning a plus
    • Working knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control procedures

    WORK ENVIRONMENT, SCHEDULE & COMPENSATION

    • This is a 40-hour/week contract-to-hire position after an initial three-month contract period, and if both parties agree, full-time employment will be offered.
    • Salary is commensurate with experience in the Charlotte region.
    • CANC supports a flexible work schedule and prioritizes work-life balance.
    • Flexible schedule allows staff to work from home and at the CleanAIRE NC Charlotte office located at 933 Louise Avenue.
    • In-town travel will be required.
    • This position may require occasional evening, weekend work, and overnight travel to participate in community events and meetings.
    • A high volume of public contact is expected.

    The work environment requires someone who is a self-starter, confident, responsible, reliable, enthusiastic, and goal-oriented. The individual must be flexible in a rapidly changing work environment and work well independently and as part of a team.

    Must be able to endure some physical exertion, such as long periods of standing; recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities; recurring lifting of moderately heavy items such as office equipment and boxes of supplies. The work may require specific but common physical characteristics and abilities, such as lifting up to 50 pounds, above-average agility, and dexterity.
