Description
We are looking for aDirector of Quality Engineering, who will be responsible for leading and managing the Quality Assurance (QA) team to ensure the delivery of high-quality software products or systems.
The Director of QA Engineering will be responsible for ensuring the quality, scalability, and performance of our SaaS and on-premise solutions.
You will oversee all aspects of the QA process, including test planning, test execution, defect management, and quality metrics reporting.
This role requires an "automation-first" mindset, and excellent collaboration and communication skills.The ideal candidate will be a hands-on QA automation expert, with the requisite management skills to lead and influence the organization.
This is a step-up opportunity for a leader seeking an executive R&D position in the future. This is a key leadership role in the technology organization, reporting to the CTO. The role is multifaceted and requires an entrepreneurial perspective. The successful candidate will possess a mix of QA automation, leadership, and transformation skills.Essential Duties:
Lead and mentor the QA team, providing guidance, support, and career development opportunities.
Set clear goals and objectives for the QA team and ensure alignment with the organization's strategic objectives while fostering a culture of quality.
Develops and implements a comprehensive quality engineering roadmap and strategy, including best practices and standards that align with the company's objectives, across allproducts.
Automation and Tooling -Evaluate, select, and implement automated testing tools and frameworks to streamline the QA process and improve efficiency.
Develop automated test suites for regression testing, functional testing, and performance testing.Collaboration and Communication -Foster collaboration and communication with cross-functional teams including software development, product management, and customer support. Work closely with stakeholders to understand requirements, identify quality objectives, and address feedback.
Implements a centralized and modernized approach to quality and integrates the quality processes with the Agile development methodology and frameworks.
Drives continuous improvement through innovative technology introduction, standardized automation testing frameworks, and quality policies and procedures. Serves as the test automation expert and mentor for the quality team.Implement, coordinate, and execute testing activities, including functional, performance, security, and usability testing. Review and approve test plans, test cases, test scripts, and test results. Identify, analyze, and report software defects, issues, and risks
Defines QA metrics and KPI's and shares standard quality reports across the organization.
Contributes to the Release Process and certifies products as Ready for Production
Manages an onshore and offshore team of ~25 staff, and owns the onboarding, coaching, and development responsibilities. Directly supervises test engineer team employees.
Partners with the Customer Success and DevOps / SRE teams to proactively identify use cases that impact end-user satisfaction.
Participate in Scrum of Scrums, Product & Roadmap planning sessions, and identify methods to improve R&D velocity and quality.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and 5+ years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum of 1 year experience in a leadership role with direct management experience
Proven experience with managing teams in an agile culture, including working with delivery, product, and portfolio-level teams.
Extensive knowledge of QA methodologies, processes, and best practices, particularly in the context of SaaS product development
Experience with Application Development, Agile, Lean, and DevOps methodologies
Familiarity with all types of tests including component/unit, integration, system, acceptance, performance, and security.
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Strong management skills including leadership of offshore teams.
Proven track record in leading the selection and development of test automation strategies, tools, and frameworks.
Proven Hands-On Engineering Experience:
Demonstrated track record in developing and implementing automated testing frameworks and methodologies in large-scale environments, including but not limited to creating and maintaining Selenium-powered tests, unit tests, integration tests, and load tests to ensure software performance and reliability
Strong understanding of UI. Mobile and API testing is required. Understanding of performance troubleshooting, and use of APM tools is a plus.
Expert level, hands-on experience with Automation Testing Tools (Selenium, Rest Assured, Cypress, TestNG, JUnit, Mocha, SoapUI, Postman, etc.).
Expert level, hands-on experience with performance testing tools (LoadRunner, Jmeter, AppLoader, etc.).
Proficiency in using GitHub, Bitbucket, JIRA, Confluence, various build tools, etc.
Experience with CI/CD and DevOps tools in AWS and Azure.
