    The Engineering Department at AKRF is seeking a Staff Geotechnical Engineer to be based out of New York City.

    The potential candidate will have the opportunity to work in an environment of encouragement and collaboration to help AKRF shape the future of our communities.


    Job Responsibilities:
    Provide geotechnical oversight and log geotechnical explorations (borings, test pits, CPTs).
    Assist in developing laboratory and field testing programs.

    Assist in developing engineering analyses for slope stability, settlement and consolidation estimates, deep foundation design (compressive, uplift, and lateral capacities), mat foundation design, ground surcharging, and ground improvement techniques (soil grouting, ground freezing, etc.), and soil liquefaction.

    Assist in preparing engineering reports, including the evaluation of collected field and laboratory results, preparation of figures and drawings.
    0-3 years' experience.
    Bachelor's degree in civil engineering (a master's degree with a concentration in Geotechnical Engineering is a plus).
    Engineer-In-Training Certificate (or the ability to obtain the EIT certificate within 6 months of hire).

    Required to travel to work sites in New York City, Long Island, the Hudson Valley, Connecticut and New Jersey, with work being performed Monday through Friday (typically 7am-3pm) with the possibility of occasional overtime, evening, and weekend work.

    Majority of job tasks/responsibilities will be comprised of fieldwork.

    Have a driver's license; be comfortable driving in the NYC metro area; and, willing to travel to more distant sites as required.

    Ability and willingness to work in inclement weather and to engage in physically demanding field-related work, including but not limited to lifting at least 30 pounds, is essential.

    Identifying problems in the field; and effectively problem solving in a high-paced construction environment.

    Comfortable and capable of providing oversight and clear direction to field crews; coordinating material and equipment deliveries and other field-related logistics.

    Be willing to work in a collaborative and dynamic team environment.
    Internship experience in geotechnical engineering a plus.
    OSHA 10-hr or 40-hour HAZWOPER training a plus.
    Experience with AutoCAD is preferred.
    Knowledge and experience using commercial geotechnical software (e.g., APile, LPile, WEAP, Slide) and other advanced modelling programs a plus.
    Compensation will range from $70k to $82K, and commensurate with experience.
