    Vocational Rehabilitation Program Coordinator


    The Vocational Rehabilitation Program (VRP) Coordinator will act as the primary liaison and manager for all Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment Services programs under Opportunity Now's Adult Services Division.

    The VRP Coordinator works with and under the direct supervision of the Director of Adult Services and the Executive Management Team to support comprehensive programs intended to engage a diverse population of individuals.

    These programs promote self-sufficiency and enrich the lives of participants with various backgrounds through career opportunities that lead to an enhanced quality of life.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor?s degree in education, social work, psychology, rehabilitation services, or related disciplines, with two (2) years of direct supervisory or management experience.
    • Three (3) years of work experience in a human services field, education, or career/employment counseling or related field.
    • Experience developing and managing budgets, hiring, and training, supervising and assessing personnel.
    • Must have strong and polished interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
    • Must be highly organized and able to work well with others.
    • Experience planning events; experience with curriculum planning and implementation.
    • Must have reliable, independent transportation and be willing to travel.
    • Must be able to pass a background check

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Follow established policies and procedures for maintaining the integrity of the program and ensure those policies are being implemented among staff.
    • Assist in the development of short and longterm plans for programs, monitor progress, assure adherence and evaluate performance.
    • Assist in design of performance objectives and implement and monitor programming to meet desired outcomes.
    • Support planning and coordination of a program and its activities.
    • Develop yearly outreach plan according to program needs and capacity.
    • Ensure that databases are maintained, which includes keeping participant and prospect information and mailing list updated.
    • Supervise Employment Specialists, Classroom Instructors and Program Assistants by articulating expectations, displaying model behavior, maintaining open lines of communication and being clear about roles and relationships.
    • Organize training seminars to address staff needs and identify relevant external training opportunities.
    • Assist with the development of program marketing and communications strategies to support program goals and increase community awareness.
    • Develop specific job opportunities that match the participants? skills, work experience, related training and interests.
    • Screen and match Opportunity Now participants with employment opportunities based on their skills, work experience, hobbies and interests.
    • Maintain relationships with existing employers and establish relationships with new employers who are willing to hire Opportunity Now participants.
    • Maintain budget and track expenditures/transactions.
    Skills and Competencies

    • Knowledge of principles and practices related to work readiness and life skills, educational issues, community services, or adult workforce development.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows based computer applications and database management.
    • Able to work with a variety of populations, including returning citizens and individuals with disabilities.
    • Creative, strategic and analytical thinker with the ability to manage multiple projects.
    • Flexible; possessing the ability to wear different hats on short notice.
    Physical and Mental

    • Work assignment travel required.
    • Regularly required to sit, prolonged standing, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer, and other office equipment.
    • Work in an office and classroom environment engaging with multiple personality types in conjunction with cultural differences and learning styles.
    • Work with a variety of populations, including atrisk youth and adults, and individuals with disabilities.
    • Be Open to Off-Topic Conversations at proper times for discussion and building a rapport with students (ex. Politics, Current Events, Life)
