What does a nursing assistant do at St. Mary of the Woods?

Nursing assistants work in a team with nursing professionals on the wards of a hospital. There, they care for and support patients of all ages.

The training consists of theoretical lessons, practical lessons, and practical placements. The practical placements take place at the UKSH in Kiel or Lübeck. There, you will work on different wards and collaborate with practice instructors who will support you in your learning.

The training lasts for 12 months. Part-time options are available, which will extend the duration of the training accordingly. You will receive a monthly training allowance of approximately 1100 € gross.

Upon successful completion of the training, you can begin an apprenticeship as a nursing professional and have access to the diverse further education opportunities in the nursing profession.
What can you learn?

You will learn, among other things:

  • To independently carry out nursing care tailored to the patients and their individual situation. The care will be planned, monitored, and directed by a nursing professional.
  • To communicate with patients and their caregivers and provide information within your scope of work.
  • To work constructively in a team with various professional groups to ensure optimal and comprehensive patient care.
