    Director of Advanced Materials - Arlington, United States - Workday

    Description


    The Applied Science Division of the Leidos Innovation Center is seeking well-qualified applicants for a unique opportunity to grow several fledgling research efforts into self-sustaining business areas spanning a wide range of applications in advanced materials.


    In this role you will build upon your, already considerable, network of government connections to bring groundbreaking new technologies and techniques to bear on challenges in optical imaging systems and advanced materials.

    You will have access to, and influence with, senior Pentagon and Leidos leadership; your efforts will directly move the needle on potential conflict scenarios.

    Primary Responsibilities
    Develop a new line of business in advanced materials, including novel metalens materials for space optics.

    As those efforts mature, you will grow and lead a team to develop these technologies, under your guidance and adapt them to a variety of defense and intelligence missions.

    Basic Qualifications
    PhD with 10+ years of experience in science applications.
    Must be a U.S. Citizen and have an active TS/SCI security clearance.

    Demonstrated ability to develop new technologies addressing the highest operational needs Air Force, Space Force, National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), Strategic Capabilities Office (SCO), and DARPA.

    Demonstrated program leadership skills and successes as part of, or on behalf of, some of the preceding entities.

    Preferred Qualifications
    Background in metamaterials, infrared optical systems, and novel sensing paradigms.
    Background in optic and imaging systems
    Background in advanced materials

    Pay Range:
    Pay Range $142, $257,325.00

    The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.

    Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
