**Job Summary**

Battelles Critical Infrastructure Business Line is currently seeking candidates qualified to serve as a **Journeyman Systems Engineer** in support of a Customs and Border Protection (CBP) program. The primary place of performance for this position will be the CBP facilities located in **Washington, D.C** .

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is charged with managing, securing, and controlling the nations borders with a priority mission focus of preventing terrorists and terrorist weapons from entering the United States (US). CBP represents the front line in the defense of our nations borders. The Office of Acquisition (OA) within CBP supports CBPs mission to manage the Nations borders efficiently and effectively by facilitating the acquisition of a mix of infrastructure and technology solutions.

**Responsibilities**

+ Performs complex assignments by compiling and evaluating design and test data, preparing technical specifications, analyzing technical data to determine appropriate limits and variables for analysis of requirements and systems performance.

+ Analyzes and interprets data collected.

+ Prepares technical reports and makes presentations to clients, both formal and informal.

+ Conducts and/or leads small technical projects or tasks of technical projects.

+ May provide technical direction to and coordinate the efforts of engineers and technical support staff in the performance of assigned projects within time and budget constraints.

+ Assists with proposal efforts. May prepare technical sections of proposals.

+ Builds relationships with internal and external clients and presents research results. Communicates with client about the schedule and quality of deliverables.

+ Contributes to IR&D studies.

+ Supports business development efforts led by others and secures follow-on work.

+ May assist with the coordination of and participation in Battelle-sponsored conferences.

+ May participate in scientific conferences, peer review panels, and increases company visibility through publications.

+ Oversees, mentors and trains lower-level staff.

**Key Qualifications**

+ Bachelors degree in related field with 5 years of experience or masters degree in related field with 2 years of experience or PhD; or an equivalent combination of education and or experience in a related field.

+ Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills along with customer interaction and presentation capabilities.

+ Proficient knowledge and experience required of Microsoft Office products (MS Word, MS Outlook, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint), Microsoft Internet Explorer, and Adobe Acrobat Reader.

+ Must exemplify a dedication to achieving the mission of the customer as well as high standards of quality and excellence in performing individual duties.

+ Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment while being able to prioritize work to balance multiple projects and deadlines.

+ Must be able to work effectively alone, unsupervised or within a group.

+ Ability to travel up to 20%.

+ Eligibility and willingness to obtain a Secret clearance and DHS suitability.

+ Must be a US citizen.

**Preferred Qualifications**

+ Active Secret clearance

+ Active DHS or CBP suitability.

+ Experience with DHS clients, systems, and screening processes.
