Position Summary

The General Manager is responsible for ensuring the strategic direction set by the Executive Director and the Board of Trustees of Oklahoma Contemporary Arts Center. The General Manager actively facilitates and monitors business planning, financial management, HR compliance, effective use of resources and revenue generation. This key role is designed to work cross-departmentally to ensure strategic priorities are appropriately balanced and implemented in support of the organization's mission and vision.

Essential Job Functions

· Support the Executive Director to achieve the implementation of strategic goals approved by the Board of Trustees.

· Monitor the implementation of policies and procedures that embody and embrace the organization's mission and work with staff to assess department functions, priorities and processes to ensure efficiencies and excellence that align with AAM accreditation standards.

· Manage and ensure effective information sharing between the Education, Exhibitions, Development, Finance, Operations and Communications Departments.

· Work closely with the Director of Operations to monitor operations of the office space, facility and campus, including administration of associated contracts, agreements, leases and other administrative documents including but not limited to café and retail shop.

· Work with the Executive Director and Director of Finance to ensure financial stability of the Center through accounting standards and controls, financial reporting, financial planning and budgeting, revenue generation strategies and responsible fiscal management.

· Approve and oversee creation of monthly financial statements and related schedules, reports and charts.

· Provide financial oversight and monitoring, including implementation of sound fiscal management practices and internal controls.

· Manage and oversee monthly accounting processes, including bookkeeping, payroll management, invoicing and financial tracking of restricted grants.

· Ensure the billing and collection schedule of pledge payments and other receivables are adhered to and financial data and cash flow are steady and support operational requirements.

· Analyze and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner before Finance Committee.

· Coordinate and lead the annual audit process; liaise with external auditors.

· Prepare budgetary variance explanations for use at Finance Committee meetings.

· Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, notably privacy and data security laws.

· Manage HR functions and work with senior staff to recruit, hire, manage performance, ensure positive morale and facilitate the training of staff as necessary.

Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree in liberal arts, general studies or business and management, advanced degree preferred. Commensurate experience will be considered.

· Seven to 10 years' experience as a museum executive; experience in the arts, philanthropic, nonprofit plus leadership roles required.

· Working knowledge of not-for-profit cultural organization management and governance; strong command of administration and delegation techniques; mastery of interdepartmental and interpersonal communication.

· Deep interest in contemporary art writ large and cultural production required. Proven experience working in museums, multidisciplinary arts centers or performing arts organizations strongly preferred.

· Commitment to Oklahoma Contemporary's mission to encourage artistic expression in all its forms through education, exhibitions and performance.

· Proven familiarity with fundraising best practices, including donor stewardship and cultivation.

· Demonstrated experience with budget development. Management and analysis, including grasp of accounting and financial reporting.

· Working knowledge of facilities and building operations best practices.

· Understanding of human resources tools, techniques and compliance; commitment to supporting and inspiring employees; demonstrated successful management of people and projects; proven record of building professional relationships founded on mutual respect; ability to recruit, mentor, retain and support talented staff.

· Experience with strategic planning, including assessment processes and data analysis.

· Ability to balance competing priorities and manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.

· Superior collaboration and team building skills.

· High level of proficiency with MS Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook; familiarity with database systems, experience with Blackbaud and/or Tessitura preferred.

· Excellent presentation and writing skills.

· Extremely organized, reliable, punctual, accurate and detail oriented.

· Integrity, honesty and good judgement.

· Fluency in Spanish or Vietnamese is a plus.

· Love of learning is a must.

· This is an exempt position that includes benefits. This position typically works Monday through Friday, with weekends and evenings as needed, including frequent Saturdays. Work schedules may require expanded hours and flexibility when needed, and the successful candidate must attend major Oklahoma Contemporary events and programs, as well as all department-related activities.
