    THE POSITION Are you seeking challenging and meaningful work on a world-class private markets investment team? Do you have related education or experience in finance, economics, institutional investing or the consulting industry? We are looking for a highly organized critical thinker with strong problem-solving abilities and project management skills to help drive the efficiency and the productivity of the Private Markets team.

    In this position, you will be responsible for the business management of the Private Markets team supporting the team in the underwriting and ongoing monitoring of the portfolio, tracking adherence to written policies and procedures, working with internal Portfolio Managers and external managers ensuring all proper documentation is collected and appropriately maintained across various systems, acting as the liaison between the Private Markets team and internal groups such as operations, financial accounting, legal and administrative staff, monitoring travel and subscription budgets and assisting with other special projects and tasks in order to help the team fulfill its strategic plan and achieve its business objectives.


    The Pennsylvania Public School Employees' Retirement System (PSERS), is an agency in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania that administers the pension plan for Pennsylvania's public school employees.

    The mission of PSERS is to maintain a financially sound System that supports over a half million members with a current pension fund of approximately $70 billion.

    This position will play a contributing part on a 60+ employee investment team in ensuring PSERS fulfills its mission and values.

    PSERS is located in Harrisburg, PA, a mid-size city situated along the Susquehanna River.

    The Harrisburg area is affordable and near many attractions including Hershey, and it is only two hours from major cities and airports like Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington D.C.


    DESCRIPTION OF WORK This position will report to the Senior Manager - Private Real Estate and will be primarily responsible for business management of the Private Markets team (private equity, private credit, private real estate, and private infrastructure).

    In this capacity, the position will develop and lead initiatives that ensure quality control, consistency and efficiency throughout the investment management process while providing support to the Private Markets Portfolio Managers in the underwriting and ongoing monitoring of private market investments.

    Work Schedule and Additional Information:
    Full-time employment Work hours are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with one hour lunch


    Telework:
    This position is telework eligible, dependent on operational requirements. All teleworking must occur within Pennsylvania. If requesting to telework, incumbent must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection at their Pennsylvania telework location. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.

    QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and

    Training Requirements:

    One year as a PSERS' Junior Investment Professional; or A Bachelor's degree and one year performing relevant private markets investment work; or Five years performing relevant investment private markets work; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.

    Successful completion of any of the following professional accreditations may be subs ituted for relevant work experience:
    Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA): 1 year per level passed. Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst (CAIA): 1 year. Financial Risk Manager (FRM): 1 year per level passed. Professional Risk Manager (PRM): 1 year. Certified Property Manager (CPM): 1 year per 4 courses passed (only applicable to Real Estate positions).


    Additional Requirements:
    You must be able to complete projects independently as well as part of a team. You must be able to anticipate issues and proactively adapt to changing circumstances and priorities.

    You must have strong attention to detail and be able to multi-task and prioritize daily work responsibilities with sensitivity to deadlines.

    You must have excellent oral and written communication skills. You must have strong interpersonal skills.

    You must be able to perform essential job functions.

    Preferred Qualifications (not required): Possession of a conferred bachelor's degree Three or more years of professional relevant work experience preferably in the investment or management consulting industries One or more years of project management experience One or more years work experience with private market fund investing One or more years of experience in each of the following - Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
