    The Lab of Dr.

    Rachel Patzer, with the Division of Transplant Surgery in the Department of Surgery, is seeking an Assistant/Associate Scientist or Assistant/Associate Research Professor to conduct research on racial, socioeconomic, and/or gender inequities in access to kidney transplantation.

    The successful candidate will work with health services researchers, epidemiologists, data scientists, clinical scientists including physicians and surgeons, clinical research personnel, and data.

    The scientist will collaborate with Dr.

    Patzer, the principal investigator (PI), to develop goals and be responsible for the design, execution, and management of ongoing and newly initiated research projects.

    This will include analyzing and interpreting research data for publication and presentation at national and international meetings.

    The scientist will also write and prepare grant proposals to obtain research funding as well as be involved in mentoring students and trainees.

    The faculty member will be part of an interdisciplinary team, including staff members (project manager, epidemiologist, and data scientist).

    The ideal candidate will have a doctorate in health services research, epidemiology, behavioral sciences, implementation science, biostatistics, or a related field and have experience managing human subjects research and conducting and/or overseeing quantitative and/or qualitative data research.

    Regenstrief Institute.

    The individual will be appointed by the Indiana University School of Medicine and would also have a Regenstrief Institute affiliation.

    The scientist would be provided with office space within the Regenstrief Institute. Regenstrief Institute Inc. was originally established in 1969 by philanthropist Samuel N. Regenstrief.     The institute is an Indiana non-profit corporation and an affiliated support organization of Indiana University (IU) and primarily the School of Medicine (IUSM).

    Many of the Regenstrief investigators and affiliated scientists who work at the Institute are employed as faculty by IU.

    With over 60 faculty investigators and nearly 100 affiliate scientists, Regenstrief scientists form a highly respected cadre of health services researchers linked to one of the most comprehensive medical informatics laboratories in the world.

    Collaboration is key and the research milieu within the institute offers access to other IU faculty scientists who have a wealth of interdisciplinary research expertise including health services research, clinical practice, medical sociology, computer science, medical informatics, medical outcomes, public health and epidemiology, engineering, biostatistics, and implementation science.

    Regenstrief personnel including research assistants, coordinators, graduate students, project managers, engineers, data analysts and other personnel are often sub-contracted by the university and other external parties to design and conduct research studies, develop software tools, or provide technical management of projects, data management and analysis.

    The Institute is an internationally recognized biomedical informatics and healthcare research organization dedicated to the improvement of health through research, development, education, and enhancement of the quality and cost-effectiveness of health care.

    For over 50 years, the Regenstrief Institute has supported numerous investigators in health services research and biomedical informatics.

    Basic Qualifications

    Candidates must have a PhD in a relevant field and excellent English communication skills. We seek candidates who have a record of success publishing in peer-reviewed manuscripts.
