Indiana University (IU) School of Medicine, a national leader in research, education, and clinical care, is announcing the search for a Chair of the Department of Urology.

This is an extraordinary opportunity for a visionary leader to provide strategic leadership for all aspects of the Department, including education, research, and clinical care.

Founded in 1887, the Indiana University School of Medicine Department of Urology is one of the oldest and most trusted urology departments in the country, with world-renowned clinicians, educators, and researchers in the areas of urologic cancers, pediatric urology, endourological procedures, as well as other urologic subspecialties.

The department is most well-known for its contributions to the multidisciplinary management of testicular cancer, urinary tract reconstruction (i.e., Indiana Pouch Urinary Reservoir), surgical treatment of children with congenital bladder disease, and advanced stone treatment.

Researchers in this department also pioneered the focal treatment of prostate cancer with high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) and were the first to publish on HIFU in the United States.

The department is one of the first to offer HIFU and TULSA-based focal therapies through its clinical partnership with Indiana University Health.

IU School of Medicine is the only allopathic medical school in the state and the largest medical school in the country.

With 25,000 living alumni and 3,000 learners across nine campuses in the state, our institution is committed to shaping the future of healthcare.

Our distinguished faculty, consisting of 3,095 full-time members and 3,783 volunteer faculty, plays a pivotal role in training medical, graduate, and postgraduate students.

The School of Medicine has over $500M in research funds and ranks No. 13 in NIH funding among all public medical schools nationally.

IU School of Medicine is closely aligned with our health system partner, IU Health, which has twice earned a place on the US News and World Report Honor Roll.

The shared vision of both institutions is to lead the transformation of healthcare through quality innovation and education to make Indiana one of the nation's healthiest states.

IU Health is among the top ten largest single-state nonprofit health systems in the United States, operating 16 hospitals statewide (a mix of urban, suburban, and rural facilities).

This partnership enables the seamless integration of research findings into patient care.

As the nation's largest medical school, IUSM is committed to being an institution that not only reflects the diversity of the learners we teach and the patient populations we serve, but also pursues the values of diversity, equity and inclusion that inform academic excellence.

We invite individuals who will join us in our mission to advance racial equity to transform health and well-being for all throughout Indiana.
