    The Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology together with the Stark Neurosciences Research Institute (SNRI) seek an exceptional and established scholar at the mid-career level to hold the Robert B.

    Forney Chair in Toxicology within the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology.

    This is a joint position for a tenured, Associate or Full Professor that is also a Primary Member within the SNRI, at the Indiana University School of Medicine.

    The SNRI is focused on neuroscience research excellence that boasts an applied clinical practice building adjacent to and connected with a basic neuroscience research building to promote collaboration between clinicians and basic science researchers for translational studies aimed at solving problems for patients with central nervous system diseases and conditions.


    The Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology has a track record of outstanding scholarship and education and is home to researchers focused on signaling, drug discovery, and systems biology in central nervous system damage, environmental neurotoxicology, pain, addiction, cancer, neurodevelopment, ocular biology, protozoan parasites, urology, metabolism, and neuronal circuitry.

    The department fosters a unique, collaborative research and training environment.

    Criteria

    The successful candidate will join an outstanding group of researchers in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology.

    This leader will bring and maintain a robust, externally funded, and cutting edge research program in the area of neurotoxicology (broadly defined).

    Applicants with a special interest in environmental neurotoxicology are preferred, but not required.

    Additional topical areas of interest include, but are not limited to, neurotoxicology research that intersects with existing research areas at SNRI and the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology.

    Responsibilities

    This established scholar will:

    Expand the targeted growth area of research and educational excellence in neurotoxicology, both in the department and institute; Capitalize on locally available Research Cores, Centers, and Brain/Tissue Banks available at SNRI and IUSM, and collaborate with leading researchers with diverse expertise, including environmental neurotoxicology and neurodegenerative/neuropsychiatric disease; Provide leadership for and expand the toxicology teaching mission, while supporting the pharmacology education excellence in the Department to facilitate educational initiatives within the department, SNRI, and broadly across the IUSM translational spectrum; Undertake cutting edge neurotoxicology research; Promote Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion across the research and educational missions; Contribute to the Translational Toxicology Masters Program, Graduate, and MD/PhD student initiatives in the department to train the next generation of leading Pharmacology and Toxicology trainees, including but not limited to developing training grant applications in collaboration with other Departments and Institutes; Hold a Ph.

    D., M.D., M.D./Ph.
    D., or equivalent in Toxicology, Neuroscience, or a related discipline.
