    Summary Description
    The Immersion Program Coordinator ("Coordinator") is one of a two-person team charged with managing
    both the relationships and operational components of El Otro Lado (Tucson) immersive learning program
    hosted by San Miguel Catholic High School. This is a full-time (1.0 FTE) position that includes
    responsibilities in program management, residential management, and educational engagement. The
    Coordinator is supervised by the Program Director.

    El Otro Lado ("the other side") is a US/Mexico border immersive learning program that provides
    participants an opportunity to explore life around the US/Mexico border, develop an informed
    understanding of migrant experiences, and learn about the many complexities of transnational migration.
    Through this five-day immersive learning program, participants learn about, and experience in part, the
    journey endured by individuals and families who cross from the other side. Alongside migrant
    experiences in the Arizona/Sonora region, participants also interact with humanitarian aid groups, Border
    Patrol agencies, and others in the region affected by immigration policy and migrant experiences, such as
    the Tohono O'odham people.

    Core Responsibilities
    Immersion Program Management
    The Coordinator assists the Program Director with a variety of tasks related to the management of the
    immersion program. Program management involves coordinating closely with both participating schools
    (and prospective participants) along with an array of local organizations and individuals on components

    such as:

    • The annual calendar of immersion weeks
    • The particular schedule for each immersion week
    • Documentation needed for participation (including documentation for cross-border travel and
    general health and safety measures)

    • Direct program supervision (including travel with participating groups in both Arizona USA and
    Sonora MEX)

    • Transportation needs
    • Food service needs
    • Local cultural activities

    Requirements:
    Qualifications
    Preferred

    • Previous participant experience in immersion programs.
    • Two years of experience in coordinating travel-immersion programs with youth and young adults
    from multicultural backgrounds.

    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in cultural studies, international human and
    social development, politics, theology and religious studies, education, or another academic field
    relevant to the immersion program.

    • Cultural knowledge of indigenous and Latino communities in Arizona.
    • Full bilingual fluency in English and Spanish.
    Base

    • Previous participant experience in immersion programs.
    • One year of experience in program coordination.
    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in any academic field.
    • Cultural knowledge of indigenous and Latino communities in Arizona.
    • Full fluency in English, with good conversational fluency in Spanish.
