Excellent Vascular Surgeon Opportunity - Boise, United States - Department of Veteran Affairs

    Default job background
    Description

The Boise VA Medical Center is actively recruiting a Board-Certified Vascular Surgeon to care for our Nation's Veterans. The retiring incumbent is part time, but full-time employment will be favorably considered to address the growing Veteran population and surgical complexity in the region.

The BVAMC supports an area that extends beyond a 160-mile radius and a veteran population of over 94,000 that generates 150,000 out-patient visits and 10,000 hospital admissions, annually. It, also, operates Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOCs) in Caldwell, Salmon, and Twin Falls, Idaho and Burns, Oregon.

Work Schedule: Part time employees can navigate a flexible work schedule while full-time employees generally work a standard work week. Full time employees are considered 24/7 employees. However, call is generally limited to postoperative patients and emergencies when available. A Surgical Physician Assistant takes primary call. Both employment categories are supported by a Surgical PA, robust wound care team, surgical foot and ankle specialists, angiography suite and operating room staff.

    • Must be U.S. Citizen – Non-US Citizens may be considered
    • Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the U.S.
    • Board Certification in Vascular Surgery preferred, but Board Eligibility may also be considered. Board certification in Surgery is also preferred.

    Community Information

Boise is the state capital and largest city in the state of Idaho; it is part of Ada County which has a population of over 400,000 and is the third most populous city in the Pacific Northwest. It is home to Boise State University, the state's largest university.

Whether there is sun or snow, the city is a fantastic refuge for outdoor enthusiasts yearning for city access and conveniences. During the summer, Boise's proximity to nature allows residents to enjoy activities such as fishing, floating the Boise River, and hiking and mountain biking in the surrounding mountains. Winter activities are merely a 15-mile drive away on the Bogus Basin slopes.

Boise is frequently identified as one of the best and most secure places to live in the U.S. Located along the Boise River, our city offers big-city amenities, arts & culture, a lively music scene, breathtaking scenery and endless opportunities for year-round outdoor recreation.

    Benefits and Features

Salary will be commensurate with experience and skillset and includes a full benefit package to support a rewarding professional practice and highly favorable work-life-family balance. Annually, the VA offers 26 days of paid leave, 13 days of paid sick leave, 11 paid holidays, and time off to attend approved CME. It further provides 12 weeks of paid maternity/paternity leave. Subsidized insurance options are available for medical, dental and vision care for both the employee and family. Additional benefits include a Flexible Spending Account, term life insurance and long-term care options. The three-tiered retirement plan is comprised of 1) Social Security benefits; 2) Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS) basic benefits (pension); and 3) Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) which is a 401K-type plan with up to a five percent government matching contribution. Time accrued during prior military service can be credited towards retirement with a very modest payback to federal retirement.
