The Tax Manager in the State and Local Tax – Sales/Use (Indirect) group is responsible for the delivery of a full range of tax services for multiple clients in a wide variety of industries.
Perform tax research on sales and use tax issues impacting our client; preparation of technical memorandums, drafting client correspondence and counseling clients in defending against state tax audits;
Sales and use tax planning, implementation, due diligence;
Tax research, preparation of technical memorandums, drafting client correspondence, and counseling clients in defending against state audits
Experience in state taxability studies, state nexus studies and implementation in sales tax compliance tools/programs
Consult, work with, and service clients to make recommendations on business and process improvement and serve as a business advisor to client
Train and mentor staff on tax projects and assess performance for engagement and year-end reviews
Maintain and expand knowledge in area of expertise, comply with continuing education requirements; participate in professional organizations, etc.
In addition to sales and use tax opportunities, ability to identify other SALT services (income/franchise, property tax, unclaimed property)
What Skills You'll Bring:
At least 5 years of relevant tax consulting experience, specific to state and local sales tax
CPA with an Advanced degree in Tax, such as Masters in Taxation or JD and/or LLM in tax
Broad exposure to State and Local Taxes including knowledge in Sales and Use Tax, State Income/Franchise Tax, Credits and Incentives, with Property Tax as a plus
Ability to provide exceptional client service, demonstrate commitment to continuous learning, display appropriate ethical knowledge and commitment, and exhibit a sense of urgency and commitment to quality and the timely completion of duties
Excellent managerial, organizational, leadership, and verbal/written communication skills
