Description

The Special Assistant to the Head Football Coach will assist and advise the Head Football Coach in all aspects of the football program, from player recruiting and development to game planning and strategy and will review functions of the department while providing leadership and growth initiatives for coaches, staff and student athletes.

The Special Assistant to the Head Football Coach will serve as an integral member of the football program while serving as an advisor with the entire football staff and student-athletes.

The individual will work with coaches and staff on a daily basis to find efficiencies through objective measures using data driven decisions and also assist the head coach in alumni relations, fundraising, social justice initiatives and student-athlete development off the field.

Incumbent will have a strong knowledge of college athletics, especially football and be able to positively impact the lives of those they encounter.

Additionally, this position will serve as a liaison for the Head Coach, Football in many areas in the department, on campus, within the Conference and nationally through the NCAA and AFCA.

Qualifications

  • Head Coaching experience at collegiate and/or professional level preferred (preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience in using sound judgement to handle sensitive and confidential information/material. (required)
  • Skill in managing and organizing personnel, equipment and material resources in order to provide the most efficient working environment. (required)
  • Ability to interact with, and relate to a variety of constituents from a variety of social, economic, educational and cultural backgrounds. Ability to create a schedule and communicate effectively with all affected parties in a clear, concise manner showing empathy and a human approach. (required)
  • Comprehend the NCAA landscape, both now and long term in regards to studentathlete welfare and competitive resources. (required)
  • Be able to analyze situations and systems, identify problems and implement objective and fair solutions. Have skill in prioritizing tasks to reflect the importance of the job. (required)
  • Possess general knowledge of financial and personnel policies, principles and procedures in a central administrative University setting, as well as, general management principles. (required)
  • Utilize skills in hiring and training employees to perform a variety of tasks. (required)
  • Employ excellent writing and oral communication skills to communicate effectively at a variety of levels including University Senior management, officials of the NCAA and Conference, administrators, staff, and coaches. (required)
  • Strong value system and morals to demonstrate leadership to student athletes and program. (required)
  • Have the ability to synthesize complex information, including legal and financial information, for presentation in a clear and comprehensive manner. (required)
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other University departments in a complex administrative environment. (required)

Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations

  • Bachelor's Degree Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. (required)
  • Master's Degree Additional degrees preferred. (preferred)
  • Juris Doctor (JD) Degree Additional degrees preferred. (preferred)
  • PhD Additional degrees preferred. (preferred)
